Leahy, Senate Dems, Will Roll Over On Gonzo II

After stating that he would hold up the Mukasey nomination for AG until Bush fully cooperated with the US attorneys investigation, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Patrick Leahey will cave, in typical DCDem fashion.

Raw Story

Senate Democrats who bemoaned the White House's refusal to turn over subpoenaed documents in their investigation of the firing of eight US Attorneys won't block Bush's nominee for Attorney General, Michael Mukasey, despite the fact he won't promise to release the files.

Can't help but wonder who really chairs that committee....

Leahey was one of the few remaining DCDems I had yet to write off.

Give Leahy some credit

He and Shumer got one of the better AGs we could have hoped for.  They played hardball with the White House and denied cronies like Chertoff or enablers like Olson the spot.

Leahey said he would hold up the nomination AFTER Mukasey was put forward.

So the "played hardball" apology doesn't hold water.
