Wesley Clark to Replace John Edwards in Debate with Rove

I think I sense an ass kicking here. What do you think?

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- General Wesley K. Clark, U.S. Army (Ret.), will join Karl Rove for this month's UB Distinguished Speakers Series (DSS) election debate. The program is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sept. 26 in Alumni Arena on UB's North (Amherst) Campus.
...

At UB, he will be sharing the stage with Rove, former White House Deputy chief of staff and senior advisor to President George W. Bush. Clark will join the Distinguished Speaker Series program in the place of former Senator John Edwards, who yesterday cancelled all public appearances through the November election.

Tickets already distributed for "Rove-Edwards" will be honored and there is no need for ticket holders to exchange them. Additional tickets for the Rove-Clark lecture are now available at the UB Alumni Arena Ticket office, all Tops outlets or online at Tickets.com.

I sure hope that Wes Clark goes after rove! I hope he calls him on his lies and the crimes he has committed against this country!

I wonder if this will be broadcast online or if the video will be put up later. Anybody have any information on this?

I found the following comment at Dkos, is this true? If so, are the organizers of the Clark/rove debate thinking?!

Unfortunately, this debate is scheduled on the same night of the first McCain/Obama debate; however, I suggest that people try to find a recorded version of this which will surely be available in some format. This may very well be priceless.

I hope that

it is a dual ass kicking! Obama kick mccain's ass and Clark kick rove's ass.

I have a feeling that both of these may be to "civil".

Damn!

I wonder if Rove will back out

now; it's good to see Obama trying to patch things up with Wes.  The General will be a heck of an advocate.

Re: Wesley Clark to Replace John Edwards in Debate

I wonder if Rove will suggest Democrats are unpatriotic surrender monkeys to Clark's face.

Nah.

Re: Wesley Clark to Replace

I agree with Bill Maher. It is sad that we have lost our most passionate voice against poverty. I also believe he would have handed Rove his ass too.

Wesley Clark to Debate Rove

I doubt Gen. Clark will use to opportunity to bash Rove directly. A good debater never goes for an ad hominem attack unless he knows he can't win.

It won't be for lack of courage, only because of the format. Look for Clark to get his digs in, but do it in a very clever way.

Re: Wesley Clark to Replace in Debate with Rove

This a positive development all around.  John Edwards NEEDS to keep out of sight.  Remember, the reason he isn't still a powerful advocate for fighting poverty is because he couldn't keep his pants zipped up.  It is fitting and proper that we should be angry with him.  As someone who gave money to his campaign, blogged for him here, and crossed the state line to go door-to-door for him in South Carolina, I'm still pissed and I make no apologies for that.  Just imagine if he had won the nomination.....

Wesley Clark can immediately destroy the "Democrats hate the military" meme Turdblossom loves to use just by being there, and that's just for starters.  This'll be fun to watch!

Re: Wesley Clark to Replace John Edwards in Debate

I just don't understand why the Edwards' affair is so much worse then Giuliani's affair or all the other politicians.  If anything Giuliani's affair was more blatant & he gets marched out & cheered by his party.

Why?

Because Edwards is a Democrat and Guie is a repug.

Re: Why?

Yes my question was half rhetorical.  Why do we a a party allow this double standard?  Why aren't we saying hey - don't like what he did, he still says a lot of good things.  And if the GOP thinks we should disown him we'll do that as soon as they disown Giuliani et al.

Be stronger!

Don't underestimate Rove.

I don't think he's going to get his ass kicked at all.  Clark better be prepared.  Remember, Rove was the guy who helped prepare a near moron like George W. Bush for his debates.  He's wicked-smart and quick on his feet and will probably have a good sense of when and (more importantly) when it's not appropriate to get low down.  To be honest, I think Clark has the uphill fight here.

But

rove will be the debater this time and not the prep person.

Also, I am not sure if this will really be a debate. I bet it is more of a forum.

Re: Don't underestimate Rove.

Yes Rove isn't an idiot - I consider him to be an "evil genius" especially when it comes to marketing & how to manipulate people. For example, if anyone really thinks the Biden remark was an accident or not meant for the press to hear - well I've got a bridge to sell you.
