While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.
The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.'
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.
The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle.' The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain. 'You know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't belong up there, she doesn't know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with.
Presumably the Obama camp knows about all this and is getting ready to release the information on their own terms. Get it out now with the spin you want on it. I think he'll be fine. He, himself, may not have had to deal with swiftboat attacks, but certainly his staff has thought about it. I'd guess they'll put something out right after he seals up the nomination
115,000 Dems taking part, 43,000 Repubs. Correct me if my numbers are wrong, but it looks like, at the very least, the Dems are much more excited this year.
I agree that we, as progressives, won't get our first choice, JRE. But he changed the debate, pushed it to the left. Now we have to work on a more local level, getting rid of Republicans and Bush Dog Dems in the house and in state houses.
Yes we should impeach both of them. Probably Cheney first. I was against it until about two months ago when someone pointed out that many people, unlike those reading this blog, don't really pay attention to politics unless it is on the front page of their local paper, and the USA scandal, and Libby pardon, don't get big coverage in a lot of places. Impeachment would bring a lot of facts to a lot of people. Bring it on. This is a question that should go to all the candidates in the next debate.
there is supposed to be an evaluation by Petras as to how well the surge is going. How about the we ask for (demand) an independent, objective evaluation be done by someone (some agency) that is not directly alligned with the administration. Of course Petras is going to say it's going well: his carreer is on the line. Or he needs a few more troops or a bit more time. You would never, and the US government doesn't, award a contract and then have the contractor decide how well the work was done. You have someone from the outside monitor the work.
I haven't seen any new information on the White House/ RNC emails lately. Any news? Are we all waiting for Henry Waxman to get the dirt? Are the big news conglomerates digging into this?
Mother Jones is reporting that many White House officials, most notably Rove, but many others also, are using RNC email, instead of White House email, to avoid being tracked. This has implications for both the attorneys general firings and even the Scooter Libby trial, and who knows what else. Has anyone else confirmed this and/or is it being investigated by congress?

Apparently Dick Cheney is not part of the Executive branch. Take a look at this link
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007 /06/cheney-power-gr.html
Now read carefully, because that is according to Waxman.
So I guess if he is subpoened he can't claim executive privledge.

Just wondering.....

Go Nats! we have a long season ahead.
I read recently that many White House officials, most notably Rove, are using RNC email to avoid being recorded. Is this being investigated?
