I want to thank everyone for the groundswell of support arising from the recent public revelations about my family. Your thoughts, prayers and concerns are truly heard and appreciated.

While we are extremely grateful that your feelings have often taken the form of financial support, I truly believe that our collective feelings and focus are, and should be, on the illness we all hope will someday be cured for everyone.

My wife and I had an amazing experience with the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at Children's Hospital in Washington D.C. We would be very appreciative if you would consider sending future contributions of this nature to any of the excellent hospitals and treatment centers that are on the frontline in the fight to eradicate pediatric cancer and brain tumors for everyone.

When I read your story yesterday, my first reaction was to help you beat Weldon. I'm so happy to know so many reacted the same.

For you to come on and request our future donations go to the Children's hospital solidifies for me that I did the right thing in supporting you.

Our Prayers not just Our Bucks

are with you.

The GOP are coming across as goons everywhere, disrupting campaigns and other dirty trickes.

It is refreshing to have candidates who rise above the crude tactics of their opponents and stand for American values of fair play, honesty and compassion.

In this callous and uncaring sea of so-called "compassionate" conservatives, your love for your daughter shines as a bold beacon to those who still have a heart. May your strength inspire even a half-remembered flicker of humanity in those who have truly forgotten what it is to "love thy fellow man as much as thyself."

Your recommendation that people give to a children's hospital instead of your campaign indicates what kind of person you are, Admiral. (I have to call you "Admiral" instead of "Joe.")

what your opponent is prepared to do in the name of politics just shows how little integrity he has.

Your response, on the other hand, shows pure class and minimal selfishness.

I can't imagine having to endure the Republican smear machine on a personal level. I'm sorry for what your family has already had to - and likely will continue to have to - suffer, but it's also inspiration to see Democrats who are ready to stand up through all of that mess and fight for our cause.

You're the one who deserves thanks.
