Hey, how about a Doctor who has been a leader in the fight for health care for the last 20 years, a successful Governor AND Democratic Party Chairman, and someone who wouldn't have to give up ANY political office?!
He is a highly respected figure here in Chicago, an eloquent speaker and a true progressive. BUT he's 67 years old, and not a particularly young 67, unfortunately (he walks with a cane). I would much rather see the seat go to a young African-American progressive like Jesse Jackson Jr.
"Jr." (as it says on his campaign buttons) would be the most appropriate replacement for Barack Obama -- a young South Side progressive who could keep the seat for a few terms.
I turned to my wife and said "That one left a mark!"
I REALLY hope the McCain campaign disputes it so Obama's people can replay video of McCain and other Repugs criticizing Obama for saying that if we have intelligence pinpointing Bin Laden's whereabouts across the Afghan border in Pakistan we should go ahead and take him out.
Re Charles Babington's ridiculous write-up of something other than Obama's speech -- since that clearly was NOT what he was describing: It would have been a good idea for him to wait until the speech was over to begin writing. If he had actually listened to it, he might have drawn a different conclusion (and gotten the length of the speech right).
How do you people look at yourselves in the mirror in the morning? Better question: if you have kids, how do you look them in the eye and tell them with a straight face the value of being truthful?!
Did you have a chance to follow up on my suggestion that 2004 Dean supporters (like me) could be a rich mine for Edwards? If so, I hope your efforts proved me right and weren't a waste of time....
He did it in 2004 in an attempt to make himself appear relevant, telling his supporters to caucus with then war-supporter Edwards in order to block Dean (proving that Dennis cared more about his own appearance of significance than about stopping the war).
This time around it's hard to see who Dennis would throw his support to. Since Edwards is the most progressive, Dennis would be most likely to try to hurt him (as the candidate most stealing Dennis's thunder) but I don't see him pulling this stunt again. In any case, it wouldn't mean anything given how pathetic his level of support (deservedly) is.
Edwards is running a better campaign than last time and now has the advantage of having been involved in a national general election campaign. I can't imagine why he would not hold on to the lion's share of those who caucused for him in 2004.
all show Edwards with the largest lead against EVERY possible Republican candidate. I hope/assume you are reminding people of that every chance you get?

Like Obama will have to work hard to "distance himself" from the guy who called him a "motherf***er" on tape!
himself from Blago"
Yeah, it's gonna be hard for him to distance himself from the guy who called him a "Motherf***er" on tape.
WTF? Did I accidentally stumble into Redstate or LGF?

Please send this video to everyone you know, especially if you know any women considering McCain. This will totally creep them out!

Shame on you!

for plaigerism, the press and public would take him more seriously.
The man lives to hear himself talk. He was also the main sponsor of the bankruptcy bill. (Hence the "(D, MBNA)" jokes.) He deserves to be ignored.

Great diary as usual, Demoinesdem! Good luck persuading as many Iowans as possible to caucus for Edwards on Thursday.
And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
