Kerry blog going solo

Is this the first time that Mary Beth Cahill, Kerry's campaign manager, has posted under her name on their blog? The blog entry is the same as an email the Kerry campaign sent out today, with a link to the new Kerry ad, a pretty good one too. I like that the John Kerry folks finally took it upon themselves to remove all the blog links from their campaign blog, seriously. I never thought it that wise of a thing in the first place, even with Howard Dean's campaign I felt that way. It was a novelty for the time being, but not something that's practical given the current state of campaign warfare between the two parties. But anyway, it's official, the Kerry campaign has de-linked the entire blogosphere, Mary Beth Cahill is blogging, and we've finally got a Kerry-Edwards campaign button (thanks to peter jung) for MyDD.

Not the first
I've seen her post before a few times, usually as repostings of emails sent out by the campaign. There was a great one that was a response to the Bush campaign when they demanded a copy of the video where Whoopi Goldberg and others made fun of Bush. Mary Beth shot back that they would release the video, and even secure the rights from the artists involved, just as long as the Bush administration:

  • released Bush's military records
  • released all Haliburton/Pentagon correspondance
  • released the Cheney energy task force records
  • released information on lobbyist influence on the Medicare bill
  • released all information on prison abuse at military bases
  • outed whoever outed Plame

It was beautiful. The full letter, in all its glorious snarkyness, can be found a here.

Re: Not the first
Right, I recall that one, which seemed more like a cut and paste by some staffer. What I was referring to was her actually having an account that is logged onto the blog, that signs her posts, as the latter is a bit more invested.

Re: I used to complain to Zephyr
Frankly, I think a subtle disclaimer saying "Linking to these sites does not neccessarily constitute an endorsement of their content."  Of course, by de-linking dKos over the "Kos controversy," Kerry's people implied that they did support the content of the remaining sites.  So given that precedent, delinking the entire blogsphere was probably the best thing to do.
