If Hillary wanted to show dignity, she could have used other examples. Hillary's desperate attempt to convince the Superdelegates that Obama is unelectable has lowered her campaign to forms of "race-baiting". It's ironic that someone who received so much support from the black community during her husband's impeachment has ended her campaign on such a narrow path of only appealing to a selected group of "die-hard women" who believe it's their time in history to be represented and everyone else is irrelevant. I am a woman who should be supporting Hillary because I'm the perfect demographic for her, yet I find myself strongly supporting Obama because of his message of "Hope" and "Change" that appeals to ALL people, not just a selected group.
Thank you for pointing out the CT bloggers. As someone who volunteered for Ned Lamont every day from April up until the polls closed at 8:00 p.m. on Nov. 7th, I could not have lived through this campaign without the constant stream of information coming from My Left Nutmeg, CTBlogger, Spazeboy, CTBob, and DumpJoe.com! They were absolutely invaluable to Ned Lamont's campaign and they will continue to be my primary source for what's happening with our elected representatives of CT! In particular, they WILL be holding Joe LIEberman's feet to the fire since I'm sure the MSM will continue to look the other way. These bloggers ARE the People Powered Media for CT!
Hi Matt, I'd rather the taste of Lamont's Kool-aid over Joe's sour grapes any day! It was great meeting and talking to you today at the Danbury final rally for Ned! I've been volunteering for Ned since April getting the petition signatures required just so he could get on the primary ballot. That was when I had to tell people, "It doesn't matter that you never heard of this guy, just sign the damn petition so others can have a choice!" And guess what, he got 33% of the delegates when he only needed 15% to get on the ballot. Then he won the primary by a record breaking turnout -- so each time he beat the odds and now I know he'll do it again for the General Election! BTW, I discontinued my membership with NARAL the day they endorsed Joe and I told them I would never give a dime to them until they endorsed the REAL candidate who support women's reproductive feedoms - Ned Lamont! Joe who thinks it okay for a hospital to turn away a rape victim needing access to emergency contraception because protecting his hospital funding lobbyist was more important! His answer is to have the rape victim ride around in a cap until she finds a hospital that can help her! I guess that's okay with NARAL! I agree with the lack of support that Lamont has received from the Democratic leadership. It just proves that Ned is putting his money on the best source for democracy: "the people"
Ned Lamont needs to win the primary on August 8th, or it's over; so it's crucial to give to Lamont's campaign now! He is already putting in a lot of his own money and the rest comes from donations from us. He has a great chance of winning the primaries and your donations will help ensure this win!!!
I live in CT and support Lamont. The only way we can stop Bush is to have real Democrats like Lamont in the Senate. Lieberman as you know is "Bush's favorite Democrat" because he just keeps giving and he just gave his vote to pass the Oman Free Trade Agreement! With fake Democrats like Lieberman, who needs Republicans!
Matt, how exciting! I am one of the Lamont volunteers who will be collecting signatures for his Petition drive! I also volunteer in the Norwalk, CT Lamont office and have help send out hundreds of thank you letters to Lamont's grass root contributors. I know you say that poll numbers shouldn't matter, but I just watched Wolf Blizter on CNN salivating over the recent Quinnipiac poll stating that Lieberman hasn't suffered any affects from Lamont's campaign and that he has a 46% lead on Lamont. So I hope Tim Tagaris can make some headway as far as the media goes because I'm sure Lieberman's campaign had a lot to do with Wolf Blitzer's attention to this poll.
Just saw your dairy and I'm sending this link to my brother who graduated West Point in 1966, fought in Vietnam, went to War college and retired as Full Colonel in 1992. He is so against the war and Bush from the very beginning. He feels that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfield have done an incredible amount of damage to our military and he believes Bush to be the WORST President EVER!
Matt, that was brilliant! It isn't just Lieberman being out of touch, so is the media. My gwad if they spent one day on our blogs they would be shocked -- absolutely shocked. But, instead, they pretend like Howard Fineman who thinks he knows us so well, and knows absolutely nothing! This guy is one big jerk and why Keith Olberman had him on tonight to belittle Feingold's resolution for censure is beyond me. Perhaps his producers made him do it, but when will we have someone in the media who can truthfully speak for us and show how we are fighting every day against these cowards. Even today Reid would not support Feingold. Lieberman was no surprise, but why Reid? When will these spineless Dems realize they are part of the problem, not the solution?
As someone who lives in CT, I will tell you right now I am joining Ned Lemont's campaign! My Republican neighbor and Republican friends tell me the reason they love Lieberman is not because he protects the environment (they could care less), but because he supports Bush's stand on the war, NSA spying policy and the Patriot Act! Ned Lamont can and will protect the environment, along with protecting our civil liberties and not voting for illegal wars!
So getting on Matt's back about Lieberman's environmental record is small potatoes when it comes to looking at the bigger picture of who will or who will not cave into Bush's neoconservative policies.
The fact that Joe sends out a letter explaining all the reasons why he is going to vote against Alito and than votes "YES" for Cloture - tell me how that wasn't a vote for Alito?
I received another letter telling me how sorry he was that I was disappointed in his performance and talked about his voting record of 2004. Well, I'm not interested 2004, it is 2006 and beyond that counts, and so far it doesn't look promising. Why does Lieberman spent more time trying to be pictured with Bush than his own party? As far as I'm concerned, I have lost all trust with this him and will not support him for 2006.
I live in CT and and believe me I will do whatever I have to fight against Lieberman, what a traitor to his country! This should have been an easy vote, instead he votes no for Alito and yes for Cloture, which just cancelled out his no vote!
to fit the NEW Republican strategy to reduce our comments as "ridiculous", "nonsense" or "silly". I've noticed lately, the Republican strategist are using this method? The other day on Hardball, when Steve McMahon and Ben Ginsberg (Repug strategist) were debating the Jack Abramoff scandal, Ginsberg said, "This culture of corruption nonsense being isolated on the Republicans is just silly." So, no doubt, Laura's response was obviously planned in advance to fit this strategy.
A lot of good stuff happened in the blogs, such as MYDD and the DailyKOS. It was the place for people who needed to feel reasured that our fight aginst Bush wasn't going to end just because he stole the election one more time! It was a place to realize you weren't alone in your misery and depression over this lost. It was a place to know you could count on real stories with real facts because the MSM was too afraid to write it. I think blogs were instrumental in making the media somewhat ashamed of their silence.
The blogs on the left were relentless in their not wanting to let Bush off the hook on the "torture" story, on the "CIA leak" and now on "spy gate" (someone's else tag line, but I like it).
The blogs were very good about keeping us up to date on all the different local elections and getting us all excited again for 2006/2008.
There's lots more, but I'll let others fill in the gaps for now.
Molly, I so agree!!! What really gets me angry is being labeled by the scary cat repugs that we're "soft on terrorism" and we don't want to protect "national security". I can't believe we can't fight this off because it's so hypocritical on the part of the repugs who would rather shoot than ask questions because they're too afraid of their own shadow. God forbid we talk back to their "daddy" who is there to protect them from all the "unknowns" outside their tiny little minds.
Someone said that Dean's remarks should have been supported by the DLC by stating he's a straight talker who tells the truth, instead of running away like you said, "scared rabbits."
But running away instead of standing up to these Rove rats has been our problem all along and it makes us such easy targets!
I hope "Crashing the Gate" does make this party angry because nothing like a good old fashion "family fight" to set things right.

What does Lamont have to do with the complaints about Jon Stewart? Your comment regarding Lamont was totally unnecessary!
