Obama raises $25 million on last day of the month!

Politico is reporting that Barack Obama raised $25 million on the last day of the month.

His one-day haul represents nearly half of his monthly total and more than Republican rival John McCain generated for the entire month. During the month, McCain did not have a single day in which he raised a million dollars.

Overall, Obama raised $54 million for his campaign in June, compared to $22 million for McCain.

In addition to fundraising, the June expenditures offered insight into the different tacks the candidates are taking toward winning the presidency in November

This is great news, Obama has used his vast pool of donors to achieve this great feat and I give kudos to the man.  It is great to be a Democrat!

Re: Obama raises $25 million on last day of the mo

And Obama has a huge cash on hand advantage over McCain:

The Illinois senator reported bringing in $52 million in June, more than twice the nearly $21.5 million raised by Republican rival John McCain during the month. Obama had $72 million in cash on hand to McCain's $27 million, according to their reports with the Federal Election Commission.

One reason McCain's funds are so low is because he spent more than three times as much money on tv ads. Perhaps those ads prevented Obama from taking a bigger lead - but now that money is GONE. The impact of ads is relatively short.

And Obama's spending his money to build a massive field organization for registering and persuading voters -- and getting them out to vote.

That was part me

I was one of the last day donors.  I shouldn't have waited that long, but I'm glad I did now, just for this highly entertaining statistic.

Re: That was part me

I donated then, too. As well as earlier in the month. Probably won't donate again till August, though.

Re: That was part me

That was me too. The Obama fundraisers just hit me up for a small donation yesterday over the phone. Those small donations sure add up. McCain is dealing with a formidable machine.

Re: That was part me

Ugh, I better not start getting calls. I hate that. Nothing makes me more resistant to donate.

Re: Obama raises $25 million
It was the last day of the second quarter, so I donated to some downticket races too.
I'm trying to do $50 to Barack and $25 to each of my downticket candidates (Rick Noriega and Jim Slattery) each month until the election.

i think it may be somewhat misleading

i remember during the primaries that sometimes the campaigns don't technically report all of the donations until the end of the time period required. Im sure he raised a boatload of money the last couple of days, but I think this is just a function of when money was reported.

Re: Obama raises $25 million on last day

I've seen this posted in other places as well, and there are a number of people suggesting that this is a product of recording the donations on a certain date, even though the donations came over the course of several weeks.

That could be

I remember looking at Clinton's fundraising; she claimed to get $10 million the day after Pennsylvania, but if you look at the official reporting, she didn't get anywhere near that until the last day of the month.

Jaw Dropping!

Man, if we can convince all Obama voters to donate 5$ by the convention we will obliterate the RNC "war chest"

I cant wait to see McCain on election welfare.
