Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

Is anyone else as curious as I am why there have been no new public/independant polls on the Connecticut Senate race lately?

Are there any in the pipeline?

And, why aren't the campaigns releasing their internal polls?

You'd think that if Lieberman were well ahead, his campaign would release theirs if just to demoralize Lamont supporters.

And if the gap were closing, why you'd think the Lamont campaign would release theirs in order to buck up tehir supporters, and get some positive media coverage.

In fact, if I were the Lamont campaign, and I had really good internal polls showing the gap closing, I'd use those to browbeat the Washington and national Dems into coming out this last week and campaigning for Ned.

So what's the deal? Why no polls? Anyone have any answers?

Re: Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

Rasmussen came out few days ago showing 8 point Lieberman lead. Today a new Zogby is out showing 4 point Lieberman lead.

Re: Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

I have heard about the Rasmussen poll but no one from Rasmussen has posted it yet.  As for Zogby it is an interactive poll that is probably not reliable.  To answer the question of the blog itself this is a low priority to race to most politicos outside of mydd and kos.  It is not going to affect the outcome of the Senate, unlike, PA, Ohio, MO, MT, NJ, TN, VA, RI so this race is a low prioity to pollesters and to followers, also if the last margin lead for Lieberman is believed by the experts to be too large for Lamont to make up enough groud to win.

Re: Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

If the Lieberman lead is actually around 8 points, as has been suggested, then why is THIS race being declared "over," but the Maryland Senate race (whcih also has around taht mnarghin of a lead for Cardoin) still in play?

Re: Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

If Maryland is in play it is just barely, and I am not sure it is at all, but perhaps it is thought the RNC will pump some money in but I doubt it will matter much.

Re: Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

Really? I just went to their site and the "latest" poll they have up is from early October.

Re: Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

The CT Senate Race is a three way race between
Lieberman-I,Lamont,and Schlessinger-R

According to Pollster- which determines the average poll numbers during the last 5 polls

Lieberman-I- 50%
Lamont-D- 38%
Schlessinger-R- 6%
Undecided.6%

Lets say that all the undecided go to Lamont.
Lieberman-I 50%
Lamont-D 44%
Schlessinger-R 6%

For Lamont to have a chance- Republicans who are supporting Lieberman will have to defect to Schlessinger.

Re: Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

Which is exactly what will happen in the polling station if not before, as has been predicted for weeks if not months. Joe is reliant on Republican voters ignoring the official Republican candidate at the top of the ballot paper, then searching down to the bottom for Joe's CT for Lieberman party. It is inevitable he's going to lose a fair number of votes from people who actually intended to vote for him then couldn't find his name where they expected to see it.

And for the last week or so Joe has been screaming "I'm a democrat. I'm a democrat. Honest" Which will hardly be helping him turn out Republicans to vote for his cause.

Having said all that, Joe may still win. It's just that the current polling is totally failing to take into account the fact that Joe is now CT for Lieberman which means a very poor ballot position.

Re: Why No New CT-Senate Polls?

According to Tim (of NedLamont's blog fame) there are several polls coming out in the next few days including another quinnipiac one.

Yes. I saw Tim's post on Kos. And I posted him up on why Lamont hasn't been releasing his internals.
