It really gets under my skin, too.

Its funny how they started doing this about the same time the GOP gave us their 134th reason for being in Iraq: "establishing a democratic Iraq".

Cynical bastards!  I can't wait until we send the Republic Part the way of the Whigs!!!!!

They lost me at 40 seconds, at infanticide (sp?).

Has anyone else considered that the October Surprise of this election is the economic collapse?

The October Surprise does not have to be a campaign tactic.  It is simply a last minute game-changer.

  • comment on a post Quinnipiac: Obama Rising In Ohio over 3 years ago

I've heard Obama has registered 900,000 voters in Ohio.  Does anyone know if this is true?  I find it hard to believe; too good to be true.

Perhaps new Dem registrants thru priamry?  Very curious.

  • "Cruel"?  BWAH HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA

Does the truth hurt THAT much?

  • comment on a post Hillary please Save Obama he is weak....... over 3 years ago

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

LOVE the Annie punch at the end.  LOVE IT!

I would think they would be still suspicious of her 'triangulating' and 'narcissism' to ask for her help.  Why now would they want to reach for help from some relic of the 'politics of the past'?

With all of her negativity, wouldn't she just rain on our sunny cake walk to the White House?

I love Obama and I never blamed him so much for these idiotic, awful things his supporters vomited online throughout the primary.  To see them squealing for help (which I feel is totally unnecessary, btw) from the one they not too long ago considered the embodiment of everything wrong in the world.

Suddenly, to these stricken with panic now, her claws and teeth look rather shiny and useful.  Many have the nerve to suggest she isn't doing enough, which is absolute horseshit.  For these people, it seems they never learn and are constantly new to politics and culture of America; like gold fish, every trip around this tiny bowl is a new yet anxious adventure.

Hillary, ya'll, has a full time job, from which she has taken plenty of time off to go above and beyond for our party - and was doing so pre-Palinator.  You all should say a little prayer and give thanks!

  • You've got to be kidding us all.

You mean to tell us that you seriously have faith in the intelligence of the American people?

Perhaps intelligence isn't the word.  Americans are really ignorant.

    They voted for Bush TWICE!

I agree with those above, that it was always going to be hard to fight McCain.  People don't think of him as a nut, even though he clearly is.  60% of Americans believe aliens have visited earth; there's not a shred of proof of that.

I don't know.  I would have liked for Mr. Armstrong to have given us some reason not to panic or throw our hands.  I have a very bad feeling now.  I watched the same convention, as I have every GOP convention since 1992.  I thought this was was a parody of itself.  I thought Palin's speech was nothing like the one I was hearing rave reviews about.

This country is DUMB DUMB DUMB!

  • I couldn't agree more!  Obama MUST win!

However, its a fine line for the Obama camp because the last thing we want is for this election to come down to a referendum on chuch/state.

Its the economy, economy, economy, economy.

To make the election about church/state would ensure a solid turnout of evangelicals in Nov.  That is something we do not want.

I'd like to hear her say: "Having your record criticized is essential to democracy, it comes with the territory, and is, in no way, sexist.  As I said in New Hampshire, a candidate's record is the best indicator for what he or she will do in the future.  Often, you do have candidates that don't want their records looked at - and in those cases there's usually a good reason for that."

Then I'd like for her to say: "I find it breathtaking the hypocricy.  You know, I've been on the front lines for thirty years, fighting for women's rights abroad and here at home.  And every step of the way, it was the Republican Party fighting against progress tooth and nail.

Now, Republicans are accusing Democrats of trying to deny women the right to juggle work and family.  I don't know what Democratic Party they are talking about because it is the Democrat in this race that supports equal pay for equal work.  Its Democrats who fight for pre-K, precisely so women can work and therefore provide for their families, while at the same time giving them the ability to write their own destinies.  And it is the Republican Party that has fought against Pre-K; if left up to them, millions of women would be forced to stay at home and have their dreams defered.

You may remember a line I used alot during the primary:  If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.  I'm perfectly comfortable in the kitchen, perhaps Sarah Palin is not.  I've endured the heat for thirty years; Sarah Palin has felt it all of five minutes.  I may have to suggest a different line of work for the honorable Gov. of Alaska."

    Hell Yeah!

Its a fight and it is ON!

  • Yeah, no kidding, what do community organizers know.

Why don't you get a job with "responsibilities"; like mayor of a small town, so that you can leave them with no money.

  • Why do people keep saying the speech was impressive??

I found her to be a very boring speaker and her accent is really annoying.

They locked her in a room for four days to prepare.  I don't think she deserves an award for managing to stand upright, read and not drool!

I understand that she fired up their base.  I honestly don't see anything but Dan Quayle in pumps.  He fired up their base too.

Actually, I think she's fire us up just as much as she did them.

  • A-fuckin-men, brother!

People need to act or shut up.

As I was the biggest Clinton supporter imaginable.  I think Hillary was mistreated with both overt and covert sexism.  However, that mistreatment came almost exclusively from the media and not the Obama campaign.

Just as Bill Clinton said in the primary, "if you don't want to play, take off your uniform."  Obama's daring to compete with Clinton (and vice versa) had nothing to do with sexism or racism.  It was never sexist to challenge Clinton on Bosnia, Wal-Mart, senate votes - on any part of her record!  I don't think Clinton ever suggested as much either.

It only hurts our chances of reaching the goals for which Hillary Clinton worked so hard, for so long to achieve, to rewrite history and start flame wars that hold the potential for only negative consequences.

It isn't the least bit hypocritical to expect Hillary Clinton to step in and destroy this bald faced GOP strategy of crying "sexism" and distraction.  Rudy Giuliani faked indignation last night, blasting alleged Democrats for allegedly disqualifying Palin simply because she has five children.  I have not heard or heard of one - NOT ONE - prominent Democrat make such a ridiculous claim.  This is just one more Big Lie on a growing string of thousands made by the Republican Party.  The FACT is that it has been Democrats, since the 1960s, fighting for real empowerment of women - for the rightful ownership of their bodies and destiny; to make their own choices and the right to opportunities.

A wonderful liberal artist and my favorite female singer, Lucinda Williams, once sang "Is it too much to ask for a full house and a rock and roll band?"  For thirty years it has been liberals fighting for this precise right for women and it has been nut job conservatives and the GOP who have fought every step of the way.  Wasn't it Pat Robertson who said feminism leads withcraft?  This is the same man and Republican icon who alleges earthquakes and hurricanes are the result of such sin as that committed by Bristol Palin!  Now he and his ilk are "overjoyed" by the wonderful "gift" bestowed to Bristol and her entire family.  PLEASE!

No one knows this better than Hillary Clinton.  I'm sure you all remember those bumper stickers from the 1990s: Impeach the president...AND HER HUSBAND TOO.  Hillary Clinton was ridiculed by these sorry assholes for her ambition.  The Swift Boaters of her day wrote "biographies" of her, claiming she killed her neighbor's cat, a campaign operative and friend, that the secret service brought her lesbian lovers under the cover of night.  Hillary nut cracker dolls were made and bought.

There is no one in this entire country better suited to help us and take such a stand.  Her fitness for that job goes back 16 years before this last primary even began to warm up.  To suggest she doesn't owe Obama (read: the Democrats and the entire country) anything like this is, well, intellectually dishonest and bankrupt.  I mean that with respect, honestly.

If you didn't see Hillary's speech at the convention, I highly suggest you go to YouTube and watch it.  I find it hard to believe any Hillary supporter would write such a diary having seen that speech.  We supported Hillary, not becuase her name was Hillary or that she had blonde hair or for any other superficial reason.  I supported Hillary because she has committed to fighting for women's rights and workers, because she was dragged down to hell and back for it, and never once made a hint of an apology for it.

I think your diary is wrong-headed.  Its time to take a deep breath, pick up the pieces, and move on with your life.

  • comment on a post This is a joke right? over 3 years ago

I think it is perfect, this diary.

I'm watching and I think she is very boring.  She looks very young and NOT like a president.  She does not look presidential in the least.  She's running with a 72 yo cancer and torture survivor; she must pass this superficial test.  Can anyone imagine her giving a state of the union or hosting foreign leaders?  I can't and I'm not just saying that because I hate her guts.

So she can read without drooling; big whoop.  They essentially locked her in a room, disallowing any contact with the outside world, for three days to prepare.

After this, she is on her own!  We'll get the same pleasure we got from Bush.  She'll talk a lot about the great country of Africa.  She'll continue to argue her Russian expertise - based entirely on the fact that Alaska is close to Russia.  She'll continue to talk about how big Alaska is (remember from 2000, "Ya'll Texas is a big 'ole state").

This is going to be fun.   She's talking some major smack right now.  It is ON!
