Wrong Jerome. The NH Union-Leader, the state's biggest, has a conservative editorial board and always backs a Republican. The Boston globe has the biggest sway with Democratic voters--many of whom commute to Boston/MA each day, especially in southern NH.
The great thing about the DMR endorsement going to Clinton is that it is unlikely to pull anyone her way--an Edwards or Biden nod, on the other hand, could have pulled away potential Obama supporters.
Most crucially now, the DMR-HRC endorsement has to share a headline with the BG-Obama endorsement.
Short of an endorsement of Obama by the DMR, things worked out perfectly for him.
Plus, it's not like the DMR has picked a winner in a while. And now the Clinton team will have a hard time lowering expectations.
