Clinton Iowa County Chair Caught Sending Obama Muslim Smear Email

From Talking Points Memo:

"A day after the Hillary campaign hit the Obama camp for bullying voters in nasty phone calls, the Hillary crew has just acknowledged that an Iowa county chair volunteering for the campaign passed along the now-notorious email that smears Obama as a Muslim by repeating the false claim that he attended a madrassa as a child."

No one is blaming Hillary

No. I am sure she did not. I'm not blaming HRC for anything. I just think it's sad that ANYONE would do this.

Of course, I feel even worse that being called a Muslim is a "smear."

I would, on the other hand, blame her for this foolishness:

Just like I told you about these black "ministers."

Re: Hillary Volunteer Caught Sending Obama Muslim

the clintons have a long history of trading on racism.

-bill's sistah soldier moment, for one.

-hillary's mean spirited quips against indians.

-al sharpton, working in concert with a clinton aide, played the race card, to attack howard dean for failing to place a blacks in an executive position while governor in vermont.

-long time clinton ally, jesse jackson sr., questioned obama's "blackness" early in the race. then after "endorsing" him, turned around and accused obama of "acting white." questioning obama's blackness was also something al sharpton engaged in.

so this muslim smear fits into their pattern.

I thought sharpton and jesse were with obama?

and are you saying that theyre also anti black?

you sound very confused.

Re: I thought sharpton and jesse were with obama?

sharpton and jesse sr, making an issue of barack's blackness was calculated to drive down black support for obama. something meant to benefit hillary.

are you insane or stupid?

I cant tell.

Jesse has definitely endorsed Obama and I think Shrapton and obama just had some chicken at sylvias in harlem a week ago.

Doesnt change the situation - youre nuts.

Ive decided.

Re: are you insane or stupid?

sure, seymour, true blue supporters always cast aspersions and question whether obama is black enough, and accuse him of acting white.

how guillible can you be?

you stink of desperation

the more hillary freefalls, the more her supporters resort to name calling.

Clinton response

I notice that you inadvertantly neglected to mention that the Clinton campaign had already issued a statement in response:

from Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle:

"There is no place in our campaign, or any campaign, for this kind of politics. A volunteer county coordinator made the mistake of forwarding an outrageous and offensive chain e-mail. This was wholly unauthorized and we were totally unaware of it. Let me be clear: No one should be engaging in this. We are asking this volunteer county coordinator to step down and are making it clear to every person involved in our campaign that this will not be tolerated."

I apologize then. I shouldn't have assumed your ommission was inadvertant.

Re: Clinton response

This was the right response from Team Clinton.

I don't want to see Hillary blamed for some nutty volunteer--but I do like that it will probably innoculate Obama from the peddled "dirty tricks" accusations.

Re: Clinton response

a statement handed down with a wink and a nod.

what in the world does that mean?

by Seymour Glass 2007-12-05 11:04AM | 0 recs
Re: what in the world does that mean?

it means one can direct a campaign to engage in any lowdown thing they want as long as they hand down a perfunctory "we will not tolerate such behavior" statements as soon as they get caught. all the while, damage is being inflicted. "official statements" claiming deniability allows the campaign to engage in bad behavior without paying a consequence.

Re: Hillary Volunteer Caught Sending Obama Muslim

As a Clinton supporter, this is outrageous, but I am very glad that they have taken the right action and put that person into "retirement". Hopefully, Faux News doesn't blow this up and make Clinton-Obama enemies, because that is what they are reporting on everyday.

Totally inappropriate.

I'm glad the Hillary camp sandbagged this person.

Obama can't like this

Just talking about his name and his father and all that stuff, like the WasPost article.  Right or wrong it is bad for him.  It is similar to Romney and the Morman thing.

I don't believe in my heart of hearts that Romney has "faith" in anything but himself and in money.  But just being a Morman is sinking him.

Just the slightest thought in someone's mind that Obama is or was or was spawned by a Muslim, isn't good for him.

Sad but true.

Yeah, I bet he hates it almost as much as when there is telephone polling that insinuates he has an illegitimate black baby.

No worse than ....

No worse than state level, elected, Obama supporters, speaking only off the record, peddling stories about about Clinton being a threat to them down the ticket.

Re: No worse than ....

Wait a sec...and certainly no worse than black supporters of Clinton saying Obama can't win because he's black.

Sad But True?

Spawned by a Muslim?  You probably think that illegal aliens come from outer space.  Why is it that some Hillary supporters comments make them sound like they are likely to have Tancredo as a second choice?  Too much cable TV or Southern Conference football?  Something in the water?
