It's a testament to how effective and influential the Conservative Movement propaganda machine has become. Issues that clearly fly in the face of our constitution are being debated as if the basic principles codified by the founders of this country were somehow malleable or quaint, or not conservative enough. Truth is it is politically risky to challenge Executive branch policies which are clearly in violation of the constitution, and that is a disgusting travesty.
Is there a tipping point then? How many seats do we have to pick up in '08 before the Democratic caucus can comfortably jettison this walking embarrasment from his chairmanship of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee? How much more of a lacky for the GOP can he become before he isn't invited into the caucus? Sure it's a big tent, but endorsing opposition candidates is going a little too far, isn't it?
Personally, I would be glad to temporarily sacrifice our Democratic majority in the Senate by cutting Joe loose. Then again, I am known for pointless, self-destructive acts. But sometimes they feel so good.
