Keith Olbermann has finally done it

Keith Olbermann has finally pushed to Anti-Clinton, Pro-Obama bias too far.  Tonight he was showing her new ad in Wisconsin and talking about how "there have already been too many debates", etc.   I just found the entire segment to really lack any journalistic discipline, as it was basically an anti-Clinton tirade.  I'm so sorry about this too-as I used to LOVE Keith.  He was my hero.  Now I will have to stop Tivoing the show.  That's it- I'm done with MSNBC.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

MSNBC has sunk so low in terms of journalistic "standards".  Don't bother to watch any of that crap.  The mainstream media is rotten to the core.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

Yes, what a shock to hear KO expressing an editorial viewpoint. Unheard of.

I guess he's part of the cult now too.

Just for a point of reference

how Democratic debates have there been this season?  Anyone know?

Re: Just for a point of reference

18 is the number I hear a lot.

Re: Just for a point of reference

Based on the numbers given by others, I've seen the number as low as 17 and as high as 20 over the last few days. I think it depends on what is considered a debate, since there have been forums that resembled debates in some respects. Also, Obama has agreed to do 2 more debates, I believe.

Re: Just for a point of reference

Only 1 with Hillary and Obama directly.

And remember that many people don't even start watching debates until they're thinking about voting in their own state.

Re: Just for a point of reference

There has been ONE debate with just these two candidates.  Many of those 18 included 7 to 9 candidates.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

Way too many debates.

Hillary  is just being a stinky smarty-pants.

Just because she is better on policy and thinking on her feet.

Just because she has real knowledge and serious positions, and can talk to those positions in a debate format.

If she gets the chance to really talk issues with the Obama (our one) she smokes him. Can't let that happen. No substance or we are toast.

Just because she knows her stuff.

That's why she wants debates!

I say enough with debates. Stiff her.

Little miss smarty pants.

Who does she think she is demanding discussion?

Thank you very much. We've talked enough. All the time in fact, in high rhetoric.

Why have debates, which would just give an advantage to the candidate that knew the most shit and had a total grasp on what it takes to get stuff done in the Washington cesspool.

Debates suck. Issues suck!

Give me sweet bromides everyday!

I'd like to call for a freeze on blog comments written in anything but prose form. This is not the place for a sonnet. Any seconds?

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

So it took you this long to figure out that the high and mighty Mr. Olbermann is just another shill?

I haven't DVR'ed him in weeks.

It was nice having a "voice" for our side (during Bush), but he's off the deep end now.  He should have stayed above the fray, you know that coveted neutral position that nobody cares about LOL.

Won't be watching his show again.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

Yeah one debate between the two candidates for the Democratic nomination is REALLY pushing it...

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

While we're at it, let's annoint Mr. Olbermann as the worst.....person...... IN THE WORLD!  From what I've seen of him, he has never offered even the pretense of neutrality; KO is a commentator, not a journalist.  While he is definitely less somber than Lou Dobbs, in both cases, we will have occasion to agree with their commentary, and occasion to disagree with equal passion.

Let's not give Olbermann or any of the others more due than they deserve.  They're just commentators.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

Keep the MSNBC hate train rolling guys. The backlash against the crusade vs. MSNBC is going strong and will continue to grow the more Clinton supporters whine and complain.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

There have been eighteen debates already. Even politics wonks are sick of debates. Then they go off on a second topic.

It's another example of the Clinton campaign not being effective. They should have stuck with a single theme in the spot. focussing on a single topic would hae made ofr a more effective ad.

READ JOAN WALSH

I suggest that everyone read Joan Walsh's column at Salon regularly.

Her most recent post is about Shuster's "pimp out" mistake, but it's also about MSNBC's "frat-house atmosphere".  Walsh is always reasonable, fair, and calm in her analyses.

Re: READ JOAN WALSH

She's been railing against MSNBC for months and spins for Hillary like a Dervish. She's cut from the same cloth as Craig Crawford. In other words, and more importantly, you're citing one horribly biased source as proof of the horrible bias of another source.

Re: READ JOAN WALSH

That's so unlike a rabid candidate supporter.

They've all been so fair and even-handed throughout the primary season.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

Well, they have had alot of debates.  Despite the fact that there were a few other candidates in the other ones, they still count.  Every debate since right before NH just had three participants.  Both Hillary and Obama spoke alot in those debates.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

Wow, they've really gotten to you.

When the last bastion of progressive thought on cable news is completely shunned by a group, simply because he doesn't toe the line of that groups annointed candidate, I think its fair to say that that group has lost is moral compass.

The way everyone agrees in unison that Keith Olbermann is now Public Enemy #1, it kind of reminds me of a, well, a cult!

lol

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

MSNBC is hardly a bastion of progressive thought... talk about LOL... that KO has been cable of on point criticisms of Bush does not mean he understands everything.  This seems to be the line of argument from Obama supporters.  Everyone should be reviewed critically including KO - the guy clearly has some backwards gender issues.  Why is he so sexist.

An no truly "progressive" station would lack female anchors to such a high degree.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it
"that KO has been cable of on point criticisms of Bush does not mean he understands everything." Nobudy said he does. But he certainly understands and properly describes the rampant desperation going on in certain factions of Hillaryland, MyDLC included. So much so that you folks have effectively demonized the rest of Hillary's supporters even though I know myself most of them are decent and respectable people. "An no truly "progressive" station would lack female anchors to such a high degree." If you judge the progressiveness of a station by how many female anchors they have, then you must be a huge fan of FOX News. Not to mention a little lacking in understanding of what liberalism/progressiveness is... Anyways, try putting some substance behind your accusations. Olbermann sexist? Ooooooh Kay.... Every day some of the Hillary supporters here just get further and further detached from reality. It's amazing. lol

Wrong

Your diary is misplaced. Olbermann is not a journalist. I am sure none of you Clinton supporters were complaining about Keith during his nightly attacks against Dubya (which are very warranted). Journalists don't do that. The Clintonistas are just mad because Keith is not on your side. You people sound like O'Reilly now. Pathetic.  OBAMA 08.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

People who think there have been enough debates are under no obligation to watch any more of them. There have been many topics hardly touched in the debates so far - mainly Constitutional issues, but also the environment.

Of course Obama supporters don't want him to debate anymore - he goes down in polls after every one of them.  He's just not very good answering questions off the cuff.

As for KO, I also stopped watching weeks ago, mostly because his smug mannerisms are getting annoying.  I hate the way he asks his questions.  It is all about himself and showing how smart he is. I think he let the positive response to his first few 'special comments' go to his head.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

God... when are they going to get some female anchors on there.  What a disappointment Olbermann has turned out to be.

Should someone start a list of potential female anchors for them to hire, a website about this??

How about Alessandra Stanley from the NYT - isn't it about time they replaced Maureen Dowd with Stanley on the oped page?

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

You are aware that MSNBC execs were waiting for a chance to fire KO in the past. He was even screamed at by one of the execs one day. It was his ratings that saved him.

He has always been opinionated. You are making a federal case out of his perceived bias to one candidate after all the years of good shows he has done? That would be like me saying Wes Clark is a tool for going to bat for Hillary.

You guys are too much.

Re: Oh jeez

Normally, a harmless comment. But imagine if an equivalent comment was made about Hillary. You get trollrated by the same strandards you Hillarybots apply to others. The only way to combat the overreaction on this blog is probably to start overreacting ourselves to tasteless comments.

Re: Keith Olbermann has finally done it

I especially loved this comment:

There were unborn children at the time of the first debate, who are walking now.

My question to you now is, when do you start the attack on:

Stephanie Miller
Randi Rhodes
Ed Schultz
Tom Hartmann
Rachel Maddow
Laura Flanders

???????
