Secretary of Commerce during a great deression type event may be a much larger role than normal.

I am not a Richardson fan but his wagon is best hitched to Obama as he has no national future on his own.

He has shown greater support to Obama than to his previous Clinton team and no other team will want to pick him up because of it.

He is stuck either solo as a politician who lost his "base" to Hillary massively during the primary.

    Or

As an Obama sidekick who may get lucky and get promoted if him and Obama really are tight.

From what I have seen of Obama so far he is more concerned with getting the power players to the power positions regardless of who's team they are on which I like.

For Obama to have so many Clinton team members on his team after calling Clinton the past is a political risk and the level of loyalty is probably lower from these Clinton folk than  it would have been from the huffington or kos crowd.

Kudos to Obama for making the best call for the country over those who have been friendly but have no real get it done ability.

Greatest benefit of Hillary as SOS is near daily communication between President Obama and President and Mrs. Clinton.

If Obama hears what the Clintons think on a near daily basis we will be much better off than if he doesn't.

When lawyers overrule the voter its a victory for the rich over the poor.

    The rich have more lawyers.

    The poor have more votes.

    Who's side are you on?

  • What I am saying is that if the democratic party things that we are ruled by judges then they will find a sizable portion who support them now will not in the future.

I was not nearly as motivated to vote to ban gay marriage as I was to vote against 4 judges telling the majority of California that they were unfit to rule themselves.

    There are two factors here.

Rate of change and political ideology.

Anyone who has ever worked doing HARD complex stuff rapidly becomes aware of the law of unintended consequences.  This law basically says that for every action there are re-actions some of which are not well understood.  If the rate of change exceeds a threshold the negative effects of the unintended consequences tend to dominate.  That is because among all modern political parties in modern countries the voters agree on much more than half of how to run a country.

No one wants to stop putting floride or equivalent in your water, no one wants to kill laws making people wash their hands at resturants etc etc etc.  No one wants to make it legal to kill people etc.  But there was a time when all these things were legal and ordinary.  90% of the republican agenda is good because at least 90% of their agenda is shared with the democratic party.  We focus on the 10%  and totally forget that most things to do with our civilization are good.

Conservative in the sense of slow change or moderate change has been wildly more successful in terms of history than fast change.  The exception is the case when you are changing BACK to something that you did before and know is stable.

Going back to the tax structure of Bill Clinton is a relatively small risk because we all know it was stable but as you go past that point if you enter new territory you may face dramatically unexpected results.

  • Ted Kennedy is made up of the worst parts of Bill Clinton with no other virtues.

Bill Clinton was one of our greatest presidents so balance out his personal demons.

Ted Kennedy had two famous brothers.

Have you ever trouble shot something that was observed by 3 or more people before you got on scene?

If so you would know its VERY common for people to remember totally BS things.

Either that or aliens really do walk among us and are just messing with our wheaties....so we won't be champions....

    LOL

When 48% starts telling 52% what they can and cannot do tyranny starts.

  • Its called reality look into it

  • Prop is being used to take away rights?

The majority voted in California and 3 judges decided they would overrule the majority.

    Then the majority ruled again.

To say that Gay marriage was a right in California other than in San Fransisco which openly flaunted the california law or in as much as the 3 Judges said so is false.

    Honesty is important.

If you are not honest about the little things people on the fence about this issue will totally completely decide they want to oppose you.

  • Obama has a bad set of cards in that the economy is bad, he has no past record of success and he is a black man with a liberal base.

The economy is bad and likely to continue to be bad so 6-9 months in things are likely to be worse than they are now.  Its very possible we are in for great depression 2.0

When the honeymoon is over in 6-9 months Obama likely will not have a shining record that America lines up behind and says good job.  All his positive things involve more tax income or greater spending both of which are easy targets for criticism during a recession.

Obama does not have a record of doing anything successful other than write books and run campaigns.  He will not have the resilience that established political brands have.  Carter was a successful governor and look what happened to him in similar circumstance.

Lastly Obama is black with a liberal base.  He already has the drudges of the world looking for every misstep he makes.
This built in group of people who want to see him fail will be a constant struggle especially since his campaign was based on hope, staying positive and being the nice guy.  His ability to respond with harsh language to critics will be restricted once there is not a single identity to those who oppose him such as Clinton or McCain supporters.

Obama will either be FDR or Carter.

If he is Carter Hillary will have a cakewalk in 2012.

If he is FDR Hillary won't run in 2012.

  • Hillary taking Sec of State would be a demotion.

Thats why the destroy Hillary at any cost team is so excited by it.

Hillary is the #1 threat to Obama in 2012 if he runs into trouble and his team knows it.

SCOTUS and cabinet positions are ways to try and destroy her career without being openly hostile to the casual observer...
