Smacfarl, the proposed law you speak of only requires you to register if you take lobbying money for a specific purpose. The right wing blogs are all up in arms about the new law but the left wing blogs are not. Hmmmm.....Wonder why?
The Kansas Republicans will have Kline run in 2008. All of the moderate Republicans have left the party in droves. They were shut out of the decision making and they decided it would be better to be a Democrat and be listened to than ridiculed. The moderates had no chance in the Kansas Republican Party. And even after the beating of 2006 they show no signs of learning anything.
"If they hope to return to power in 2008, they must rediscover the conservative principles that resonated with the majority of Americans in the 1980s," said the Rev. James Dobson, head of Focus on the Family.
Oh I can only hope that the Republican party listens to this religious hack. It will only further marginalize them to the voting public. Its after all exactly what they so richly deserve. Especially since it will only be a matter of time before they prove that being gay is not a choice.
We have a good fried who is undergoing chemotharapy for breast cancer. As you might expect she has no hair and wears a wig. Today when we went to vote she happened to be there in line with us. There was a woman there handing out flyers to vote no on the stem cell initiative. Our friend stepped in front of the woman handing out flyers, ripped off her wig, and announced in a very loud voice " You think I'm stupid enough to vote against a cure for myself?".
It was great. The woman handing out the flyers looked very mad.
They are afraid because we want REAL change. We want REAL reform. We want REAL progressives in office. That would endanger the cushy jobs they hold and love so much. TOUGH. This is a dogfight for the control of the party. Its a fight to take our country back. And it wont be easy. We better be prepared for the long haul because they wont give up control easy.
I live here in MO and I can tell you people are sick and tired of idiots like Talent who vote with the POTUS 94% of the time. That issue and the stem cell debacle by Rush will swing the election to Claire. If I were her I'd send a thank you note to Rush after she gets elected. Maybe we can get lucky and he'll have an aneurism from getting so upset.
I have been aware for some time of the evangelical churches flirtation with the Republican Party. Now that the churches have begun to see its a one way street, their support will begin to wane. Espescially if it threatens the non profit status of the organization. Then the religious leaders will lose influence and maybe we can get back to believing in science.
Matt, I think you are exactly right. We need to establish control from the very beginning. Its just like with children, you have to get your bluff in first. Like the time my 12 yr old son said to me - ' well what if I just dial Child Protective Services?'. I responded (with no smile on my face) ' What makes you think you'd be able to dial?'. The flash of doubt in his eyes was worth a million dollars. Then he started to laugh nervously. I would never have hurt him but its always expedient to have them wonder. Its then same for the Republicans, they need to wonder what might happen if they pull more BS.

What I want to know ....Why does the President need to invoke executive privilege if there were no conversations with the President?
Hmmmm.
Sorry that was ridiculed.

Sic em Nancy. Make Bush veto every progressive bill we can. That will show the rest of the country where the Republicans really stand.

YEAH BABY.
Tom,
If Lieberman decides to go to the Republicans he will get voted out next time.
Yep their idea of compromise is for the Democrats to shut up and go along. Man the next two years are going to be good.

I have friends who live in this district which includes Lawrence Kansas and I think Boyda may pull off an upset with this election.

One correction. Didnt Bolton also give that nutcase Atlas Pam an interview too? Man shes so far from reality she will need a starmap to get back.
I do appreciate what you do. Unfortunately I am unemployed at this time. My job went to Brazil.
I will contribute when I can.
