The Iowa Button Poll

A unique, albeit UNSCIENTIFIC, poll out of Iowa gives us an interesting look at the race on the ground in Iowa.  Forget pollsters dialing long distance into Iowa.  This poll requires you to cough up 3 bucks to support your candidate.

"Now here's an Iowa poll with "meaningless" written all over it, or so the statisticians would say.

At a West Des Moines mall, last-minute shoppers paused at John Olsen's booth to buy a $3 campaign button that recorded their caucus choices."

Clinton Can Take Off Quicker From The Start

Newsweek's website has an interesting look at a Clinton event in Iowa.  At the event an Edward's leaner challenged her.  What could she do to change his mind this would be caucus goer asked.  He admitted he was drawn to Edward's because of his 'Two Americas'.

Clinton offered:

"I think it's really important that you look at what we've actually done. Not at what we say or what we tell you we hope to do. Because the best way to determine who can actually deliver change is by looking at who has already done it."

Obama Savagely Attacks Ted Kennedy

Barack Obama claims to be different.  He claims to not engage in the politics of personal attacks.  But behind the slick talk and long speeches there lurks an over eager Chicago politician is more than happy to personally attack his opponents.

Look no further than his savage personal attack on Ted Kennedy of all people.

Rasmussen: Clinton Up 4% in Iowa

The good news for Clinton just seems to keep coming as of late.  Rasmussen is out with polling today showing Clinton pulling the support of 31% of likely Iowa Caucus goers.  Obama trails with 27, and Edwards is third with 22%.

A week ago Rasmussen had Clinton at 29%, Obama at 26% and Edwards at 22%.

Looks like anyone can now find an Iowa poll that suits their taste.

Clinton Moving Up in NH, Grabs Another Endorsement

'First Read' is out with with new polling from CNN / WMUR in New Hampshire.  Hillary Clinton has jumped back out to a solid double digit lead over Barack Obama by a margain of 38 to 26.

The last CNN / WMUR poll taken earlier in the month showed only a 1 point Clinton lead.  Fox / Opinion Dynamics has also recently released a poll from New Hampshire showing Clinton up by 9.

It appears to me that New Hampshire voters may have taken a hard look at Obama but may be moving on, back towards the candidate who has enjoyed solid support in that state for much of the race.

Is Obama Violating the Pledge?

When Florida and Michigan moved their primary contests up the calender, against the DNC's wishes Democratic candidates signed a pledge not to campaign in those states unless they complied with party rules

To date I know of no campaign that has broken that pledge since the DNC officially sanctioned Florida and Michigan.  It appears that the Obama campaign has done so.  Barack Obama's official campaign website is touting a Florida event for Obama on Dec. 14.
