More On That Edwards Clinton Post Debate Conversation

An unnamed source who attended a recent John Edwards fundraiser in New York passes along some inside info to the New York Observer.

According to the source, as reported by the Observer:

"He said that Hillary and Obama have true dislike for each other and that after the most recent debate Hillary mentioned to John in passing that there's more about Obama and that "slum landlord" [Rezko] that has yet to be disclosed to the public."

The Observer goes on to get a response from the Edwards campaign to the assertions made by the source.

Edwards spokesman Eric Schultz:

"Edwards has told reporters he's not going to talk about conversations with other candidates, but based on Monday night's debate with Obama using Wal-Mart and Hillary using Rezko, anyone who thinks this is over missed Senator Clinton's statement that they're just getting warmed up."

I find this very interesting.  Maybe the Clinton campaign does indeed have something up its sleeve, as Novak hinted months ago.  I would hope so.   I am very disappointed in their oppo research to day, and their ability to dictate the terms of the fight.  Maybe the last debate signaled all that is about to change.

I for one hope she knocks Obama's block off.  He has it coming to him.

Re: More On That Edwards Clinton Post Debate Conve

Edwards clearly perceives an opportunity to climb back in the race by becoming the "grown-up" candidate, as he suggested last night on Letterman.  Bill Clinton sort of helped him with that in the video you watched.

Mind you, I don't know if you can really get away with a message that goes, "I'm the candidate who's above cheap shots like (ahem) WAL-MART and REZKO," which is kinda how I take this spokesman's statements, but hey, the man's gotta try something.

She's been dictating terms of debate for 2 weeks.

She and Bill are all he's talking about when he isn't having to defend himself over Rezko or the praise for Reagan.

What DP doesn't get is they cannot drop a bomb a la Novak on Obama. It could backfire enormously and they are going to want all those black voters back when she's got nomination wrapped up. Obama's hurting, anyone who can't see that has no feel for the way the momentum of the campaign is moving. The neutralization of SC has been brilliant. All the Obama fans who think a win here is going to carry them to victory in CA, CT, NJ etc. need to step back and look at reality.

I think it is personal

I think they would destroy him and leave him on the street if they could.   I would.

It will be Monday

If they have something my guess is they will drop it on Monday.  Assuming it is something substantial that would take the oxygen out of coverage of Obama's win, much the way he stole her post NH thunder with his race play.

If it good it put Obama in the offensive all week.

Or maybe they wait until after FL.    Talk up their win their will leaving Obama to twist just prior to Feb 5.

But my guess if it is good they will drop it Monday.

Whatever "there" is, is probably small potatoes, like Obama's contradictions we have already seen on display in the debate.  There are no doubt more where those came from.  They'll unpack it as ammunition when Obama makes the mistake to go on the personal attack again, like he did in the debate.  Had Obama not started the crap with his charge that Bill Clinton is a liar (why drag BC into this?  Stay as far away from getting entrangled with the most popular Democrat as you can.) and the "corporate lawyer on the board of Walmart" slam, the counter would not have occured.  Mistake by Obama, as now some of the issues with Obama are all over the news, blogosphere, etc.

They may just be gaming everybody

Why would she tell Edwards squat?   Maybe they guessed he couldn't keep a secret.  Broder wrote this morning that Bill is in Obama's head.

Matthews picked up on that tonight and said, "Bill is livin' rent free in Obama's head right now," and went on to basically assert Bill is taunting Obama and throwing him off his game.

Maybe there is nothing there.

Re: More On That Edwards Clinton

You know how you can tell when Hillary and Bill are lying?  Their lips are moving.

4 more years of lies, 4 more years of arrogance, and 4 more years of a President who can't admit to a mistake... this is what a Hillary Presidency will consist of.

Didn't the Observer endorse Obama? How credible is this source?

Re: More On That Edwards

It's strange that the Edwards campaign is even talking about this.  I noticed in the debate, though, and thought it was weird, that Hillary would look over to Edwards and say something to him with her eyes, almost as if they had already opened up some kind of conversation between themselves BEFORE the debate happened.  She had never done that before.
