$20 Billion College Aid Bill Signed

Democratic leaders in Congress finalized the $20 billion college aid package yesterday and sent it to the White House for signature. The President is expected to sign it. Some are calling it the largest investment in college education since the 1944 GI Bill.
Among other things it raises the amount of the Pell Grant, lowers rates on Stafford Loans, offers income based repayment, and potential loan forgiveness for service workers.
I think this bill is just what the Democratic Congress needs. I hope that they put some effort into the P.R. and make sure Americans know who got this bill passed. It wasn't Republicans. I continue to think that the Democratic Congress needs more bread and butter legislation - like this - passed before the '08 elections to really solidify and maximize our potentional for gains.
