Yet another subject about which Stoller knows nothing about, yet deems himself capable of pontificating upon and, more importantly to him, using to smear his political opponents.
Richardson seems to come around to the right positions right in time.
Somehow I think that the right time in this case was sometime before every GOPer on the Judiciary Committee except for Orrin called for Gonzales to resign.
As someone who only spent a couple years in a telecom start-up, I see how uninformed and insular Stoller is on this issue (that he is leads this post with the netopia block notice is testament to how he continues to conflate NN and hotspot filtering) and it is good to see a telecom veteran chime in on the matter.
I'm with you and your "crackpot" theory. That this isn't considered the most likely scenario just goes to show how well along the way most people are to being brainwashed that terrorists are brown and have Muslim names.
However, that is not the end of Murphy's story. It is troubling that it is commonly understood by those who deal with people on the DNF list that being a political opponent can get one on the list, whether or not it is true (which we all know it is).
Plenty of otherwise legit sites are blocked at venues that provide inet access as a tertiary service -- like family oriented restaurants -- because of obscene language; and would anyone here dispute that the language on DK, even on the front page, is regularly NC-17?
Panera, although allowing DK, blocks access to Sadly No. Big deal.
I've been saying for years that sooner or later the upstarts who call themselves the progressive blogosphere would have their masks pulled off to reveal themselves as nothing but power-hungry sell-outs.
There should absolutely not be a resolution requiring Congressional approval to attack Iran. It was a mistake to put that in the Iraq bill, because now the Repubs can claim that the failure to pass that provision means the President has such a right by default.
Maybe... but we all know that that the reason it was taken out was not for such strategic reasons, or any reason even approaching progressive, and that in itself marks a huge defeat for the progressive caucus -- the real ones anyway.
The bad players here are the crooks routing calls through rural Iowa. They are the ones taking advantage of regs that were put in place to help rural telephony customers. That the big telcos are trying to put a stop to these parasites is neither shocking nor wrong.
I refuse to use any of these services precisely because it is stealing -- nothing more, nothing less. I have no sympathy for the cheapskates who are now whining because they can no longer profit from this scam with free calls.
It's amazing to me that after all the hubbub from this blog and DK about the NV debate, that you and Markos fall for a hit piece from a wingnut news organization.
Second, Rahm Emanuel really is a self-serving backstabber who will leak whatever he possibly can to the press if it will help him while simultaneously hurting the rest of the leadership.
Good to see you have finally accepted what those of us in IL have known for quite some time.

Just saying.
Thx for this, Laura.

Let's not start seeing monsters under the bed.

I'm just surprised that it happened so soon.

Amen.
At least I can stop talking about the Dowdification of Stoller... for now.
60 yo is hardly geriatric, much less confined to a nursing home.
Once again you guys demonstrate how unprogressive you really are.

Simply amazing.
I'm boycotting Seder because he encourages his listeners to boycott Ed Schultz.
The worst thing that African-Americans can do politically is to allow either party to take them for granted.
I just wish that so-called progressives in the blogosphere would get that.
