Rudy Out, Grampa Fred In

For some reason, the RNC has dropped Rudy from the bill tonight, giving his slot to the equally energizing former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson.

Here's the scoop from the (ugh) AP:

Republicans revamped their convention plans for a second day, dropping former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani as keynote speaker Tuesday night while trying to determine President Bush's role in the political pageantry celebrating John McCain's candidacy for president.
In Giuliani's speaking slot were former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee, one of McCain's rivals for the Republican nomination, and independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, the Democrats' vice presidential candidate in 2000 and now a McCain supporter. Republicans say the two will talk about McCain's life and their friendship with him.

No reason was given or information about possibly rescheduling Rudy's speech. I'm actually disappointed, because I was looking forward to the mash-ups comparing Mark Warner's DNCC keynote to Giuliani's.

Jesus. It's like they think people care. This is almost sad. Almost.

I like Rudy. Every 10 seconds he freaks me out -he jump starts his eyes by expanding it to look like the next coming of the shining.

Watch him- every 10 secs his eyes go into full beam mode from a squint.

Re: Rudy Out, Grampa Fred In

When watching him speak, play this in your head.  A ... Noun...A ... verb ... and ... 911.

His eyes will pop everytime when you finish that in your head :)

Re: Rudy Out, Grampa Fred In

WTF are they thinking? Is this going to be the Republican version of the Democrats' 2004 convention? Where are the attack dogs?

Re: Rudy Out, Grampa Fred In

What do they have left to attack on?  The plan was to attack Obama on lack of experience and sketchy connections, now they have a VP candidate with less experience and a more direct connection to even sketchier people.

Rudy isn't out, just moved.  He'll speak either Wednesday or Thursday. At least, that's what my radio just said.

Re: Rudy Out, Grampa Fred In

I hope Fred is in the evening because sometimes when I am stressed I have trouble going to sleep. He should really help.

Re: Rudy Out, Grampa Fred In

Agreed. I was up late last night working on my manuscript, so I need to get some quality sleep.

Fortunately, all I need is one old timey story about how politics is supposed to be like and how McCain was back in the day and I'll be out like a light.

Have you noticed how orange he has gotten? Apparently, he was so depressed about having lost the primary that he went to Barbados.

Re: Rudy Out, Grampa Fred In

Oh, geez, that VP debate would get nasty quick.

Rudy answers a question, Biden compliments him on throwing in an adverb along side the noun, verb and 9/11...
