OH! And be sure to talk to the volunteers on the beach watching out for the turtles. They can not only tell you stuff about green sea turtles in general, they can also probably tell you the name they've given whatever turtle is sunbathing at that moment. They are a wonderful resource, not just the "turtle police."

Best thing I did in Oahu last summer was visit Turtle Beach. It's a beach on the North Shore where Green Sea Turtles like to come ashore and sunbathe near you. Oh, and they swim around you in the water, too. Don't get too close, though, because their shells can rip your shins to shreds if they accidentally bump into you. Being able to get so close to such magnificent creatures is something I'll never forget.

I followed the links, and the links at the links, and all I got is that John Edwards read a book co-authored by O'Hanlon. And this warrants three paragraphs about how terrible O'Hanlon is and why Edwards' connection, a connection that doesn't appear to exist, to O'Hanlon lends to a "trust issue" you have with him?

Interpret the Israel speech however you want to, that's fair game. But this bogus O'Hanlon connection is thin, and doesn't serve your case at all.

  • Hello, Elizabeth!

I hope you're feeling well. Come to Connecticut! We're moving our primary to Feb. 5, too. John will have our support after what he did for Ned. He just needs to remind us! ;-)

  • Ha ha ha. The original diarist accuses EDWARDS' supporters of this: "What is up with the Edwards [sic] that they feel they can question the supporters of the other candidates intelligence."

But who takes 0.6 seconds to post this to an Edwards Supporter: "The more stuff of yours that I read, the more demented you really seem to be. I think you really believe this stuff, and that's just sad. You're no better than the Republicans who read Drudge or Red State...narrow-minded, petty and divisive to the end"?? An Obama supporter.

Do you see the irony, mihan? Do you see that YOU are exhibiting narrow-mindedness, pettiness, and divisiveness with your IMMEDIATE turn to a personal attack on a supporter of another candidate?

There's this saying about glass houses and throwing stones. Look it up.

  • But Elizabeth was NOT "initially" diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. She was initially diagnosed with stage 3, which has now progressed to stage 4. So the 1 in 4 statistic, even if it was still valid, does not apply.

And the reason that people with initial diagnoses of stage 4 disease have such a poor prognosis is because oftentimes, by the time they are symptomatic, the disease has spread to an unstoppable degree. The fact that this spot was found as a result of an x-ray on a different rib and that she is completely asymptomatic works greatly in her favor. If she hadn't cracked her rib, chances are the spot in her rib would have grown, or quite likely another spot would have developed in another bone that would have become painful (her femur, for example), and by the time that happened, the cancer could have been everywhere. That's why Elizabeth was blessing her broken rib. It might have literally saved her life--or at least added many many many years to it.

  • You are not SERIOUSLY pretending that you don't agree that frontloading all the primaries hugely  benefits the candidate with the most money and name recognition (i.e., your gal HRC), are you?

Because if you are, then just go away. You have no credibility whatsoever. It's a no-brainer.

I believe "Apocalypto" didn't make as much money as "Passion of the Christ" when it opened at #1.

    Oh, the humanity!

  • He could have fired them.

  • about their intolerable language, all he would have accomplished would be to keep the story going, to start a round of "he said, she said," ("Your people are more intolerant than my people! No they're not! Says you!" etc.) that would have served no purpose whatsoever except to perpetuate the story.

This response does not insult potential Catholic voters who might have been insulted by Amanda and Melissa's rhetoric, but at the same time makes it PERFECTLY clear that he will not stand for these kinds of attacks ("We're beginning a great debate about the future of our country, and we can't let it be hijacked.").

What he's doing is walking right past the entire thing, and giving it the amount of attention it deserves, namely very little.

  • LANNY DAVIS is in Obama's corner? Seriously?

Then I won't be. Ick. What a creep Davis is, as anyone involved in the Lamont/Lieberman race can attest.

(And btw, I happen to agree with you that Obama's rhetoric thus far is very Liebermanesque, and it's creeping me out. We must hope that Obama knows that what Lieberman calls bipartisanship is as flagrantly partisan as it gets.)

Umm, how do you know the cards WEREN'T printed on recycled paper, making this a third or fourth or more use of the materials (and eliminating your whine about saving trees)? Do you honestly think a company that is so eco-friendly that it goes to the trouble of arranging to have the cards repurposed into something else WOULDN'T use recycled/eco-friendly materials? Think about it.

And if you read it more clearly, you'd see that there weren't "extra" envelopes, you sent the card back IN THE SAME ENVELOPE IN WHICH IT CAME TO YOU. Repurposing, you know.

As for the cost of sending out those cards, instead of donating the money directly to a charity, I challenge you to find anyone who makes cards like this that ISN'T ALREADY an environmental charity. The act of purchasing the cards was itself a donation, no doubt.

Someone's being stupid about this, but it's not the Kerrys.

"Six Feet Under" is airing on BRAVO, two episodes every Monday starting at 9. I started at the beginning, and am riveted.

As a former "Ugly Betty" myself, I'm loving that new show. It has an amazing amount of heart.

For my reality show jones, I love "The Amazing Race."

Otherwise, I like to watch "House," "Medium," "Nip/Tuck," but not with any regularity. And I'm trying to decide whether or not to commit to "24" when it gets going.

Out of curiousity, why isn't my Congresswoman, Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) on the list? She has no competition at ALL in her race. I'm hoping it's because she has already donated a bunch of her cash to her fellow Dems running in CT-02, -04, and -05.
