James Carville Predicts Harold Ford Jr. Will Win Senate Seat In 2006

It appears there is now another well respected political expert that believes Congressman Harold Ford will win the Senate seat here in Tennessee in 2006.

This is from the Brad Blog (http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002205.htm):

"James Carville appeared on NBC's Today Show to give his political predictions for 2006.

The Senate will make history by doubling the number of African-American senators. Senator Frist has said that he will not run for a third term. Carville predicts that Representative Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN) will win Frist's vacated Senate seat."

Once again, this is only more evidence that Harold Ford Jr. is the front runner in this race and that he has the momentum on his side.

When someone of the stature of James Carville predicts a win for Harold Ford Jr., you can take it to the bank.

Also, more good news regarding Congressman Ford's Senate race from the Associated Press.

"Despite being New York's less-famous senator, Charles Schumer stayed busy in 2005, keeping a hand _ or quote _ in almost every major congressional battle. Now he is out to prove he has the strategy to elect Senate Democrats and maybe wrest control from the Republicans.

Schumer, the head of Senate Democrats' campaign efforts, said Tuesday he is focusing on seven states where he believes they can take GOP- held Senate seats in 2006: Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, Montana, Tennessee, and Arizona.

"If the stars align right we could actually take back the Senate," Schumer said."

"But one political observer said Schumer's list of seven target states in 2006 may not be as far-fetched as his detractors claim.

Bruce Oppenheimer, a Vanderbilt University politics professor, said the conditions in Tennessee may be ripe for a Democratic win.

"People think this race would lean Republican, all other things being equal. But it's in play," said Oppenheimer. "For the Democrats, it's certainly doable."

Folks, this race is winnable.  In fact, Ford is the front runner with the momentum right now!

Lets get this brilliant young man elected to the U.S. Senate next year!

When I vote for a Democrat, I want to vote for a real Democrat... Not an imitation of one...Especially one who claims that he loves his President (meaning Bush) "personally."

oh please...Ford has 78.68 from Progressive Punch, higher than a lot of good Democrats in the House....he does what he has to do because he's in TN, but we can count on him.

Carvilles face reveals all
I remember feeling pretty good about Kerry's chances until the night before the election.  As several political analysts sat around a table answering questions, the telling look on a sullen Carville's face made a cold chill run down my spine.  Kerry's mistake in 04 was having Cahill run the show instead of JC.  By the time they got him onboard it was too little too late.

We must win TN
Without it, there is no way we retake the Senate.

Re: We must win TN
It's possible to win it without it, but that means we would need to pick up Arizona which looks like more of a longshot than Tennessee.

And who knows? Maybe we can make better races out of Nevada, Virginia, and Texas(Barbara Radnofsky is looking like a pretty cool and interesting candidate here).

Re: We must win TN
Or take Mississippi.   If Lott doesn't run, it's more likely than AZ, NV, VA or TX.   Wasn't he supposed to decide this week?

If "Bulldog" JC run Kerry's camapaign
If Carville run Kerry's campaign instead of Cahill & Al Gore's ex-campaign guy, it may have been a different story.

One thing I'm sure is JC would have had Kerry respond differently to the Swift boat attacks.

If Ford can pull off TN in 2006 combined with a current popular Democratic Governor in Brendesen & a continued high disapproval rating for Bush in TN- this state together with AR, FL & VA can definitely be in play in ' 08.

A strong showing by Ford will reconfirm the big secret that Democrats in TN are Alive & Well !

Agreed
Kerry made a big mistake by not handing the campaign over to Carville as soon as the convention was over. Though, Carville may have not wanted to go down with that ship, who knows? Ford can win this thing, but it's gonna take a lot of resources. The race will get dirty quickly, and we'll need some heavy artillery in TN. If I'm the DSCC, this race has got to be on my hot list.

I hope so
With the increase in Bush's poll numbers, the Senate races are shrinking.  While OH, PA, and RI, remain tossups, MO and TN are becoming Republican tilts, so I hope that people see through the election euphoria like they saw through it in Jan, 2005 and give Bush a thumbs down again, and vote Dem on election day.
