There is a law on the books that you cannot run for President if you committed a crime.  By admitting he used cocaine which is against the law to buy or to use,  Obama should be disqualified from running for President.  Bush never admitted to cocaine use because he knew that was a disqualifier.

I know you Obama people are not reality based but those are the facts.

Obama admitted to breaking the law today. He spoke about using cocaine when he had the money to buy it, his alcoholism and us marijuana use.  I don't care when Obama did this or how young he was he admitted to breaking the law of this country and as a lawbreaker should be disqualified from running for the Presidency.

As a real honest to God Democrat who has seen this all before I expect anything from the Republicans.  Believe me I would be happy to see Edwards win in Iowa if Hillary doesn't.  Obama is hanging with the rightwing and repeating their talking points so I don't want him to win Iowa.  You will find however, that a number of primary states have same day registration and it would be advantageous to have the weakest Democratic nominee in place--that would be Obama. 8 polls came out today 7 of which said Hillary was winning in Iowa, 1 said Obama was 3 points ahead and the media went with that poll. Being the media and the right go hand in hand -- anything can happen. If Edwards wins in Iowa I would say he has been on the ground there for 2 years and has worked for that win.  I just have a problem when the media pushes one candidate, attacks another and ignores the third. I wish you would get rid of that chip on your shoulder.  I do not spin for Hillary. I just think she is the best candidate.  I hope if your candidate loses that you will support her too.

We cannot afford another Republican President.  So its better to hold your nose and vote for the Democratic nominee.

This is why the Republicans would need to change the subject from domestic policy back to their strong suit war.

I guess you will be lining up behind Giuliani in the general election.  Whats wrong with privatizing all healthcare and social security?  Cause Giuliani is a populist! lol  If you pick a weak Democrat who will be destroyed by this rightwing media then Giuliani is the winner and 2012 you will be so busy trying to make ends meet, you won't worry who is running for president.

Holden -- As usual spot on.

Hillary never called Social Security a crisis.  When Bill Clinton left office Social Security was secured until 2055.  Everytime a Republican gets in Social Security is in crisis.  Why, because they want to kill it. In order for Obama to keep his love affair with the media going he has to put out their talking points.  But it ain't so.  If you want to see the truth about Social Security check out Harry Reid's website.

Boilermaker -- I find it depressing too.  But what you have to remember is Iowa has same day registration and Republicans can reregister as Democrats to vote for Obama.  The media gives us the poll and then they make it happen at the polls. Hopefully when Hillary gets in she will put strong people at the FCC to force the licensed news broadcasters to do  news and not do commentary day after day.

George -- Great Diary.  I think the media is a bit embarrassed by Obama because he is so uneven.  He is arrogant and paranoid which kind of reminds me of the current president.  They have been told to push him because against a Giuliani Obama would fall on his face.  I believe it caught the media by surprise when Hillary became so popular.  Now they have had to try doubly hard to destroy her with a triangulated Obama giving the Republican talking points.  It wasn't enough for the media to sell a Republican candidate now the have to sell us the Democratic candidate too. I am pleased for Hillary and I think if anyone can beat the right its a Clinton.  As she said -- It takes a Clinton to fix a Bush mess.

You think the media wants Hillary to win?  I don't think so.  They want Obama because he would be the easiest candidate to beat.  Your right about the media pushing hard against Howard Dean in 04.  I remember when Dean lost Iowa Judy Woodruff and Jeff Greenfield high 5'd each other and said we did it.  Edwards was the real anti-Clinton but the media acted as if he was invisible.

I think the media has written the senario for Iowa.  A win by Obama with many Republicans re-registering as Democrats in order to stop Hillary.  I think Rove told the truth about the agenda for the 08 race.  Obama will win a couple of early primaries but Hillary will win the nomination after having been battered.  I, in no way agree with Rove ever but I have checked and a number of states have same day registration so the dirty tricksters can make this happen.

On Saturday Novak admitted that this is at best 3rd hand information which he says comes from someone who was in contact with someone at Hillary's campaign.  What a load of crap that all is.  But still you say that Hillary uses the politics of slime.  What slime????? If someone wrote to you and said a person who knows a person who knows you said they knew something bad about you but they couldn't say what it was--would you take that seriously? Give me a break.  Obama is a cry baby -- and he is not ready to be president of this country. Its fine to support your candidate but when the candidate is acting like a fool you should be able to say so.

I think we can see the rightwing media's attacks on Clinton this week, which started with a column by Bob Novak that Clinton has scandalous information about Obama but she is not going to use it.  Obama's over-reaction to what is non-news shows what a desperate amateur he is.  But it also shows us the Obama is working with the rightwing media to get his message across.  Krugman and others on the left are now saying that Obama gets his talking points from the rightwing playbook. Obama's youth and inexperience makes it more and more obvious to Democrats that he is not ready to lead this nation and the fact that he leans on the right to help him in his campaign says he's not really a Democrat either.
