How about the Blue Dogs and Dinos? I only think we have a majority when we consistently can get democratic legislation passed.

Thanks for an informative post. I'll vote for Hillary in the general election but I hope Edwards gets the nomination.
I'd like to see some real talk on education from our candidates. When they talk about funding or overhauling NCLB I am appalled. NCLB is part of the republican plan to ruin public education, and in that, it has been incredibly successful. Education of our citizens is part of the crumbling infrastructure - if we can't think critically and creatively we will lose globally.
NCLB must be rerpealed and replaced with a system that funds education, and by education I mean a system that sparks our kids' minds to think and do.  So far none of the top candidates impress me in this realm.

My Dem friends are now getting cut-rate offers to dine with the Prezdinet. And my repug friend has gotten the cheap photo offers.

I told my son it was the pre-game show - and that the pundits have to talk talk talk because supposedly the actual debate is not about them. He's popping some corn.
We're looking for some substance and strength.

Pelosi '07 - impeachment or Gore will shake it up, I hope.

Thanks for the lightness of your dark instincts. I was before all the candidates before I was behind them.

FYI - I am undecided. All the power-hungry jerks have pluses and minuses in terms of how good a President they may make. I reserve the right to criticize them all so they can improve.

Someone needs to pay more attention to the differences in rankings from house parties. Were they people who supported different candidates from the get-go or were they more focused on listening and discussing? I was tuned in to Edwards' and Richardsons clear message on the internets. It would be interesting to see if everybody was as focused on this event vs their general impressions of candidates.........

  • It is amazing how Richardson pops out with people discussing the forum. Listening alone on Air America, I could zone in on candidates I liked and not pay much attention to others. At a house party you hear it all AND you discuss it. So then you get polled and vote according to the actual stands vs the popularity contest.

  • Unfortunately this means only that candidates will campaign only where there is a large % of moveable swing voters. They may ignore ttally red or blue states and go where there will be bang for the buck. The campaign teams will just have a new math to calculate.
Personally I think it would be more important to get IRV voting in place, so that consensus candidates can emerge in both state and local elections.
Also setting up a parliamentary system so there is more than a 2 party system and viability for smaller passionate parties and candidates who then can forge relationships with other parties.
And then there is the campaign funding and lobbying issues - money should not equate more votes.
And then there is the 'informed citizenry' issue - we need a press who can be trusted.
Oh - and letting the people vote and then counting all the votes.

This bill is an attempt to fix something that is less broken and less important in getting us a good government than many other issues. A distraction.......

I didn't vote based on rivalries - I voted for whom I'd prefer as President. I was heartened to see that 'Other' did really well and came in 3rd overall.
I hope 'Other' gets in the race so I just vote for Gore.
  • I would LOVE that result, either Gore or Pelosi (since she may be Pres after the impeachment anyway).

I can't get too excited about the front runners. I like Bill Richardson but either Pelosi or Gore would blow him away too.

But my preference is for Gore to declare soon, not wait till he gets grabbed out of 'retirement'. His voice is needed in the debates coming up.

I saw that when watching. I couldn't believe my eyes. Very very creepy. And unreal. Is he checking up on junior? Is he that isolated? I'm trying to understand.......

  • Not the first time we would've had a republican mole on the ticket: 2000 Lieberman
