I am not a Coloradan, but for any Democratic media folks in CO, WY, MT and NM, here is a link to a story in the LA Times on how a Federal whistleblower from the Denver EPA office has disclosed that Cheney's office was instrumental in skewing an EPA study on the possible contamination of underground sources of drinking water by the fracturing fluids produced by Halliburton and used by the coalbed methane extraction industry.
A PDF file of the whistleblower's letter and analysis is also available at the LA Times site.
Coalbed-methane development has become a big issue in parts of Alaska as well and has already resulted in one state GOP senator being forced from office. The big issue up here is that 300,000 acres was leased for development with almost no public notice. Much of the acreage consists of residential subdivisions where the homeowners are mere "surface tenents" with no right to prevent drilling operations in their own yards and who receive no royalties.
Few issues expose the GOPPers as nothing more than puppets of their corporate masters more than the perks and breaks they give coalbed methane developers.
