CA-48th: 8.5 days left...Virtual Phone Bankers Needed

After months in this shortened Special Election, after a primary just few weeks after the nomination papers were filed, after beating back 12 of 17 challengers, after fighting upstream in a district The Party, at all levels, has long since conceded...Steve Young, his staff and volunteers work hard every day to seek a victory no one expects.

We are just 8.5 days away and with your help we have a real chance to kick the Republicans out of a seat they took for granted and send a California style earthquake through their entire leadership! I'll get to the help we need below the flip.

This time I won't bother you with the stats and the details to try and convince you we have a shot even though the registration numbers are so lopsided. By now, either you are fighting Democrats (non-military) ready to help another non-military fighting Democrat, Steve Young, or not!

We've collected too damn many endorsements, including VETPAC, that I can't even begin to list them all here. And besides perhaps we're past the point of quietly, politely beseeching your help.

Either you believe in the improbable or not! Either you will stand and fight when a fight is reasonable or not. Each of you must find the nearest mirror and answer that question for yourself.

Whatever your answer, it will be the right one for you. Steve Young believes in you and The Party or he wouldn't be in the race.

So what do we need?

A. Virtual Phone Bankers. You've seen their effectiveness when properly deployed in other campaigns. The key to our victory on Dec 6th is simply turning out the demoralized Democratic base. They've been beaten for years in The 48th into believing they have no chance. And this time...for the first time...they REALLY do. And you can help let them know that. If you can devote some time from home, email here and use Virtual Phone Banking in the subject line and your email will be sent to right department. We have this computerized and you will be contacted and set up. And your calls might be the one's that make the difference.

B. No amazement here: We need more contributions today to help buy more time on TV and in other media in the final days! Whether it's $20, $10 or $2,100 donate now and donate generously as you can.

A famous old time California politico said it best: "Money is the Mothers Milk of Politics."

It was true in the 60's and 70's, it's true today. And we are up against a Republican millionaire fully supported by The RNCC etc.

Whether it's Virtual Phone Banking or donations or just letters of support to others to get them moving...whatever you do will be greatly appreciated.

I'll let you know later in the week how things are going. I'll be in the hospital for a few days. But by Thursday I should be able to bring you up to speed.

Thanks in advance for all the help and support over the months for Steve Young and his quest in the CA-48th.

question
i've seen instances where out of state phone banking caused a bit of a backlash.  is this district one that would be receptive to that type of calling?  i'd like to spam this out to a few email lists, but i don't want to do anything that would cause blowback for you folks.

Re: question
WE use scripts that describe the dialogue we desire. This eliminates the 'Hey, I'm so motivate by ..... that I'm calling from Florida to let you know' syndrome...

Or so we hope.

We'll be doing some spot quality checks on this and other topics.

Good question and one of my concerns as well. If turnout wasn't such a key and The Party hadn't dropped the ball so completely this would not be one of my favored tactics.

But when necessary....do what's necessary.

First rule of goverance: Get Elected!
