Edwards Voted For Barack Obama

John Edwards, the son of a mill worker and a teacher, a former Senator from the then red but turning blue State of North Carolina, a white Christian with blue collar roots, acknowledge that he voted for Barack Obama in this past Tuesday's election in North Carolina.

Edwards has also basically endorsed Barack Obama as Obama, for the first time, leads among superdelegates.  That lead will widen as Obama has won 32 of 48 contests thus far, in states as "white" as Wyoming, Vermont, Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas, and Utah.  Obama has also won big states (Illinois, Georgia, North Carolina, Missouri, Virginia), swing states (Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Colorado, Virginia) and every kind of state imaginable.

Edwards endorsement dispels the myth that Obama can't attract what the media is derisively and divisively attempting to label as "low class, uneducated whites." To me these labels are BS.  People work hard regardless of education level and skin color and these labels are ridiculous and unnecessary.

But thank you John Edwards for doing the right thing.  The last thing this country needs is a 3rd Bush term and I knew I could count on John Edwards not being an angry bitter elf who tries to sink a boat merely because his first choice (himself) did not get his way.

Where did you hear this?

Re: Edwards Voted For Barack Obama

Diaried at the Orange Satan.  Apparently he said on Morning Joe that he had voted in NC for the person he would endorse, and let slip the pronoun "him" when discussing who he voted for.  It wasn't picked up at the time,so he wasn't pushed to confirm he meant Obama.

Elizabeth is much smarter.

at least in this area...

And you know how she voted?

Re: Elizabeth is much smarter.

Hey, how does Hillary's plan work if it's not through the congress? You never did tell me how she'd accomplish that- oh, wait, I think your idea was to "embarass" the Republicans. Awesome plan, that.

But thanks for insinuating Obama'd kill a hundred thousand people indirectly. Sure makes all the level-headed people think you've got a good grasp of what's going on.

Re: Edwards Voted For Barack Obama

Don't forget swing states like Iowa, where polling show Obama beating McCentury big, but Clinton losing.

by IowaMike 2008-05-09 06:44AM | 0 recs
Is Iowa a blue state or a red state?

Now doesn't matter.. November matters..

California, New York, Texas, Florida, those big electoral vote states matter the most as far as electoral votes in November go..

by architek 2008-05-09 06:59AM | 0 recs
ok.

Lets win them!!!

Re: Is Iowa a blue state or a red state?

Are you seriously trying to make the Primary/GE isn't apples/oranges argument?

SERIOUSLY, YOU LOST!

Re: Is Iowa a blue state or a red state?

Either Senator Clinton or Senator Obama wins CA and NY?

Both lose TX and FL?

Do you have a point with this post?

Re: Is Iowa a blue state or a red state?

BTW, its a swing state. And we have dems with challengers and we want some coattails to help win.

[citation needed]

I could've sworn he was just on Morning Joe specifically not endorsing anyone.

Please state your source.

Can you provide a link please?  On all news interviews he did today, the former senator refused to say who he and his wife voted for but added that he thinks Obama has won the nomination.

Re: Edwards Voted For Barack Obama

Sorry.  This link doesn't say one way or another. 'Em is a southern slang term for "them".  He is being coy still but I am sure he cast his vote for who he thought was best.  I bet he and Elizabeth voted for the opposite candidate just so they wouldn't have to decide.

If any can find it, watch the rest of this interview.  Edwards talks about how much the MSM makes too big of a deal about endorsements.  It was a good interview.

Re: Edwards Voted For Barack Obama

It could be a "him." Could be an "'em." Could be he said "rem," thus explaining New Hampshire's one bizarre write-in vote for Michael Stipe.

He also could have said, "I just voted forum on Tuesday." FORUM, for those who don't know, is an anagram for Fighting Opponants of Republicans Under-Matched, which everyone knows means Hillary.

He also could have had a floating green alien that only he can see telling him what to say.

But, really, he just said "him."

Re: Edwards Voted For Barack Obama

Oh, thanks. Sounded to me like he said, 'im, not 'em. And 'im would be "him" down here in the South.

Actually from this part of the South we say "He-im" for him.  And 'Wilt-son' for Wilson.  :)

Oh, well. It was to be expected. But just out of curiosity, who did Elizabeth vote for?

I would strongly suspect she went for HRC cause of her health policy. JRE went for Obama.

he doesn't control his delegates and how they vote.

3rd Bush Term = McCain. The diarist wasn't referring to Clinton.

Wewax.

Re: John Edwards is not important

I bet the diarist meant McCain, but left the talking point floating.

Serioulsy, I don't think even the Obamaramas consider Hillary a third Bush term.

At least I hope not.

Re: John Edwards is not important

Have you actually read the comment section TPM, Open Left or Daily Kos?

Plenty of fellow Obama supports out on the net are seriously out of touch with reality and Obama's message. Luckily the more sane will win out as soon as the nomination fight dies down.

by Ernst 2008-05-09 08:14AM | 0 recs
Re: John Edwards is not important

Yeah, I've read the madness.

But in this case, I do think the diarist meant bush.

by pinche tejano 2008-05-09 09:53AM | 0 recs
Third Bush Term = McCain

and I don't know how it got spun to mean something different.

Preventing the 3rd Bush Term means 90% of Hillary's supporters join with the rest of us and stop John MCbush and win this in a landslide.

Mike Gravel as the compromise candidate solution!

(And you know what, despite his punchline status now, he really was an awesome senator back in the day, we could use some more like him nowadays)

Hillary Clinton

I was also frustrated by lack of linky

But bigdave has been around a while, longer than this primary season, and has a good record.

TexasDarlin, you on the other hand, need to find the entire email you're tarring Brazile with.   Your cut and paste of a cut and paste without true attribution leaves me similarly frustrated.

by drowsy 2008-05-09 08:50AM | 0 recs
Re: I was also frustrated by lack of linky

I have the entire email.  I only took out language related to identifying information about people in the interest of privacy; deleted parts were not relevant to the content.

Re: I was also frustrated by lack of linky

Wow.  Sorry about the late reply.   Any way you can share that?   The content is enough I guess, but the headers are the gold.

You don't need to erase the from lines, you say yourself it was Brazile.    I'm also hoping you know the source well enough to get all the headers from the email.  UUIDs etc.   You can kill all the To: info if you like, hopefully just to the left of the @ symbol unless their dmain name gives too much away.   If I'm to revise my view of Brazile, I need to see that.   I'd think it would get much more attention.

by drowsy 2008-05-13 06:28AM | 0 recs
Re: I was also frustrated by lack of linky

Dang it.  I clicked too fast.   TexasDarlin, I meant we have enough content already, its the headers we need to prove ownership.  Sorry about that.   Please help me get more info.

Re: Edwards Voted For Barack Obama

As is now being pointed out above - Edwards very carefully said to Matt and to Joe that HE DID NO SUCH THING. There's as much there for Hillary supporters as there is for O's supporters.

This is more of the same "politics as usual" that Obama and his folks say they are above. If Obama's supporters are so facile with this "okey-dokey" bamboozle, then what else can we expect from either them or their leader?
