WI-10: Get This Picture Off My Fridge!

This past May, my twin daughters took a school field trip to the Capitol Building in Madison.  This was a big deal for me.  Not only because this was a four hour trip and I'm an anal, over-protective mother, but also because I planned on being the person to introduce them to our state's capitol.  Although I was slated to be a chaperone, a severe case of bronchitis decided it was not to be.

As soon as they got off the bus at the school, I rushed over to them.  "Did you have fun?" "Wasn't the capitol awesome?" "What did you learn?" I was greeted with tired whimpers and other people's children vomiting on the ground.  Clearly, I was more excited about the trip they had just taken than they were.

And then, I was handed two of these...

Photobucket

..."Shelia Harsdorf" tainting my daughters' beautiful innocence.  And this is what is on my fridge...twice.

I never thought I would have the name of a Republican anywhere in my house, especially in a prominent position on my fridge for all who enter my home to see.  I feel dirty...and I need your help.

You see, Alison Page is here to save me.  She is contesting Sheila's seat in the Wisconsin state senate, and let me tell ya, we need her.  My children and I (all four of them) went to meet Alison tonight and hear her speak.  The twins were particularly excited.  Twin B (as she was known in utero) went right up to Alison and introduced herself, "Hi Alison!  My name is [Twin B] and last May I got to sit in Sheila Harsdorf's seat.  Next May, you'll be sitting in Sheila Harsdorf's seat!" I must tell you, I nearly shed a tear--my kids are awesome.

Alison can't save me all by herself.  She needs your help.  Shelia Harsdorf is big in these parts--she knows cows.  We live in rural Wisconsin, and while our state tends to go blue...this district does not.  You can drive on any street in this town without seeing a single McCain sign, but the same can't be said for those Sheila signs.  There is one on every block.  Alison doesn't have the name recognition Sheila has.  In fact, my local party office asked that I place an Alison Page sign right next to my Obama sign so people would know she's a Democrat.

Alison's website is pretty weak, but she's out there knocking on doors and meeting us folks.  She's got ground game...but again, no name recognition.  We have to get Alison's name out there, but to do that she needs money.  I've donated $100 to her campaign over the months, but with my husband's hours being cut at work we are quickly becoming tapped out with our political donations.  Please, will you help me get this picture off my fridge and a Republican out of my district?

State senate, huh? Where's WI-10? I was in the Manitowoc/Sheboygan district.

District 10 includes parts of Burnett, Polk, Dunn, St. Croix, and Pierce counties.  Very heavily rural, and very badly in need of a Democrat.

I mean seriously, Sheila Harsdorf knows more about cows than she does people.  I'm all for animal rights, but I think PETA has that covered.

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe this is located in Rural Caucasia, I had the best smorgasbord ever during a visit to the area many years ago. I've been vainly seeking smelts like that ever since.

I think it goes all the way to the Minnesota border.  There were ads on Twin Cities radio last cycle.
