on charlie rose last night they talked about reforming the senate. yall should watch it. charlierose.com. it made me sad. a point was brought up about fdr: in 34- the midterms- millions were without work. millions. fdr was getting slammed by left and right that he hadnt done enough or too much. yet the voters- perhaps more trusting of govt then than now- trusted the dems to keep on trying. today it seems perhaps too many want a magic pill. u know- a quick joystick war or  a pill to melt those pounds. in 2 yrs americans appear to have decided they wont give dems more time to keep trying to fix the economy. post watergate syndrome perhaps?

obama should have done a bigger stim bill etc.. but he didnt yet recognizes the need for more. he needs to come out with a plan- u know if dems are elected to hold congress for another 2 yrs who is the plan for jobs. maybe then people just might give dems another chance to keep on trying. hell the gop wont.

some say graham is playing the game here to protect pal mccain from a verry damaging immigration vote. if immigration is next mccain will surely oppose giving hayworth lots of ads with mccain pushing immigration reform time and again. so graham throws both climate and immi ref into chaos.

lemos is right- the senate cannot do 2 issues at once- this is something we must remedy asap. we have a jobs bill pending, billions the sen must approve to back up school districts so 300,000 teachers are fired, citizens united "fix,"  a hundred noms still not approved and the budget. la times says even after the climate bill was unveiled it wouldnt be on the floor for debate for another month! why- they got to send it to cbo and other agencies for analysis and to win the votes. good grief.

fdl asks the question im wodnering- why did reid put the opt out in the bill if he didnt have the votes of conservadems to begin with? now we have another compromise about to be compromised again. what votes did the opt out get? none it appears.

truman is the great maverick. a real one. note- he ran on civil rights for aas in 48. everyone told him dont but he did and ran on universal healthcare. there wont be another truman.

lincoln deserves mention. he was couragoues enough to issue the emancipation . he had the ability to grow on aas having equal rights and was courageous enough to push for what was realy needed in 1865.

fdr a great in courage on the use of govt to improve lives of americans. it doesnt sound so radical now but what he did by creatin g ss etc was highy courageous. he welcomed the hate of special interests and used govt.

if joe kennedy ran id back him. ive looked at his house record-if only we had more dems like he. his focus is on poverty. but he isnt a talker on it-when he left the house he set up a co op for giving heating oil to the poor. i like oreily much also. i want a fighter from ma. lord knows we need a fighter.
