<Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey Endorses Hillary Clinton<br> The Clinton Campaign announced today the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Lynn Woolsey of California's sixth Congressional District. The Congresswoman cited Senator Clinton's commitment to ending the war in Iraq as the top reason for her backing.

"Hillary Clinton is the candidate with the strength and experience to bring about the change that California families need," said Rep. Woolsey. "I trust Hillary to end the war in Iraq, bring our troops home quickly and safely, and regain our nation's standing around the world."

Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey is serving her eighth term representing all of Marin, and most of Sonoma County.

As Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Congresswoman Woolsey is a vocal and visible leader on progressive issues, particularly those dealing with children and families. A passionate and outspoken opponent of the Iraq war, she has helped move public opinion against President Bush's failed Iraq policy. She introduced the first resolution calling for our troops to be brought home and convened the first congressional hearing on military exit strategies. The San Jose Mercury News recently called her "the unofficial matriarch of the [anti-war] movement in Congress."

A member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congresswoman Woolsey believes that ending the Iraq war must be the beginning of a complete re-evaluation of U.S. national security policy.

"I am honored to receive Lynn's support," Clinton said. "She has been a tireless fighter for working families and has led the effort to end the war in Iraq."

Rep. Woolsey joins other California members of Congress supporting Hillary, including Senator Dianne Feinstein, Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-18), Rep. Jane Harman (D-36), Rep. Tom Lantos (D-12), Rep. Doris Matsui (D-5), Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-38), Rep. Laura Richardson (D-37), Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-34), Rep. Brad Sherman (D-27), Rep. Hilda Solis (D-32), Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-10) and Rep. Diane Watson (D-33).>

Another great endorsement for Hillary- it's thrilling she has so many respected hard-working people supporting and standing up for her where it counts- Hillary will make an incredible leader and will work with everyone to return the country to greatness.

Re: Congresswoman Woolsey Backs Hillary

This is an impressive endorsement for Hillary.  Lynn Woolsey has a ton of anti-war cred.

Re: Congresswoman Woolsey Backs Hillary

You said it, Steve.  This is big news.  And while I don't need reinforcement for my support of Sen. Clinton, it is very gratifying that Rep. Woolsey is on board.

Re: Congresswoman Woolsey Backs Hillary

Yes, it's a great endorsement for Hillary, although I don't understand it. Perhaps Woolsey's forgotten how lonely it was being out on that limb after voting against AUMF. Obama just picked up William Delahunt's endorsement.

Re: Congresswoman Woolsey Backs Hillary

What is Woolsey thinking? Woolsey and Hillary are 180 degrees apart on the war.

Oh well. Good for her I guess.

Re: Congresswoman Woolsey Backs Hillary

Actually no, Bush and Cheney are 180 degrees apart on the war.

Hillary hasn't been a trailblazer on iraq, but Woolsey and Clinton do share most of the same objectives on it.

Re: Congresswoman Woolsey Backs Hillary

This is the sort of comedy that keeps me coming back here day after day.  Why doesn't Wes Clark understand that Hillary wants to bomb Iran?  Why doesn't Joe Wilson understand that Hillary is a neocon?  Why doesn't Lynn Woolsey understand that Hillary is just as enthused about continuing the war as George Bush?  Why, why, why?

It's barely possible that they understand that your premises are wrong and therefore your conclusions are wrong.

Oh, for Heaven's sake.  They are not my premises!

Re: Congresswoman Woolsey Backs Hillary

oops meant to say Bush and Cheney are 180 degrees apart on the war with Woolsey

*Scratching my head*

Hillary would be the least likely to receive the nod.  No apology for her vote on Iraq and more hawkish than Obama and Edwards on Iran.

From this moment onwards, Congresswoman Woolsey has officially lost significant credibility as leader of the Progressive Caucus.

Obama not a pacifist

Maybe she's noticed that Obama isn't really a pacifist? This summer he got burned in effigy in Pakistan for threatening to invade them if he thought they weren't working hard enough on al Quaeda.

Hillary and Obama have the same plan for getting out of Iraq: two brigades a month, almost everyone out in 2008.
