MANDATE, MY ASS!

Bush claims that the size of his win gives him a mandate. This is false. The election proves America is almost evenly divided.

Bush claims he won more popular votes than any other American presidential candidate. He conveniently omits one key fact: KERRY ALSO WON MORE POPULAR VOTES THAN ANY OTHER AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE. In fact, with the totals so far, Kerry has won nearly 1 million votes more than all other presidential candidates, including Reagan in 1984.

Bush received no electoral college mandate either. The truth is ONLY 3 TIMES SINCE THE CIVIL WAR HAS A PRESIDENT WON WITH SO FEW ELECTORAL VOTES: Hayes won by 1 in 1876; Wilson won by 23 in 1916 and Bush won by 5 in 2000. Don't let Bush use his phony mandate claims to push his radical agenda. Stop the spin now!

No mandate
I thought the same thing... I guess us 50 million people are insignificant! Maybe his head will explode if it gets any bigger.

Re: No mandate
Look. The guy won. He won the popular vote. He won the electoral vote. That's a mandate. If Kerry had won that victory, you would have said mandate a million times by now. A mandate does not mean that the folks who did not vote for you don't matter. It just means that the winner can claim that his policies have the support of the majority. Just what do you think a democracy consists of? Is it only a democracy if you win?

I really sympathise with how you feel. But you have to be realistic. He won. We lost. He gets to decide where we go and what we do for the next 4 years. Getting set up to win next time starts witha ccepting reality. OK? We just have to make some huge changes, painful ones.

Re: No mandate
Yes, he won. That in itself is not a mandate, because the number of people on both sides are almost even. We lost because no one bothered to counter the homophobic, anti-gay marriage ballot issues in 11 states (not that there is a way to counter them). People in those states came out to vote against gay marriage and managed to vote for prez at the same time. They had a reason to vote. This was a brilliant plan by the Repubs to get their wishy-washy religious base to the polls. They got out the vote, we didn't do as well. I have to admit the Repubs are extremely cunning. We need to take a page from their "stragery" book. I just hope that we can keep the momentum going after such a tough loss. In two years we could start taking back the congress and in 4 years the presidency. Thank goodness  we still have enough votes in the senate to block a bad supreme court choice!

Bush's Mandate
Ok if Bush got a mandate then all the people that voted for him will have to live with his decisions..
So when they come for your kids in the draft don't go looking for ways to get them out of it..
When the defecit doesn't go down, don't go looking to blame the liberals, because you control the whole ball of wax..
You elected the retard now you gotta deal with the spoils...
Let's see how you feel when your kid is getting beheaded because Bushie your hero felt like attacking Iran...
And when, not if , when Al Qaeda destroys an American city don't go around saying how Bushie your God has made us safer...
