Obama/Clinton: I'd signed up voteboth.com in the past

Sometime back I had signed up for voteboth.com that was created to push Hillary to the VP spot. I along with many Obama supporters believe in the dream ticket and have the deepest regard for Hillary.  So having said that_ here is what I received from that mailing list a few days back and thought if they are any here w/ similar/like minded opinions for the dream ticket, you may want take a look at this mailing.

I know this diary will be infested w/ the few Hillary haters who proclaim unity when it suits them or the great talking point heads in here who will bash this idea down.  But hey we can't have a perfect party: ) . I just happen to believe we had 2 awesome candidates this time around from our party.

Dear Friend:

You and over 35,000 other dream ticket supporters petitioned Barack Obama, urging him to pick Hillary Clinton as his running mate.  We've been out there every day, making the case for an Obama-Clinton ticket, writing to the Obama campaign, talking to our friends, and taking our message to the media and blogs.

Now it is time to take the next step--talking to Sen. Obama.

Join me and so many others in recording a video that tells Sen. Obama what an Obama-Clinton ticket means to you.
http://www.voteboth.com/TalkToBarack

We each have personal reasons for why we believe that Hillary and Barack should run together.

I have gotten to know Hillary over the last five years.  She is a smart and caring woman who has spent her life fighting to make our country better.  She is also the toughest lady I know.  Hillary is exactly the person we need on the ticket with Obama.

What does having Hillary on the ticket mean for you?  Tell Barack Obama.

Sending a video message is quick, easy, and powerful.  I am going to make my video today, and I can't wait to see yours!

Sincerely,

Re: Obama/Clinton: I'd signed up voteboth.com in t

Hillary clinton would be great on the ticket .

Frankly its a no brainer for me.

Its Obama's choice anyway and I'll rather have him make it .

I am not opposed to the effort but I am not really thrilled about the idea of a dream ticket anymore.

Whoever is picked as VP would have only marginal impact on my vote.

Re: Obama/Clinton:

Sure couldn't tell this from your comment history till now.

I'm kinda worried that, based on face value alone, I find nothing offensive about this diary.

Unfortunately, the fact that it was written by you will make many doubt the face value of the the diary (justifiably).

I walk away from this diary feeling kinda like Charlie Brown contemplating Lucy holding the football.....

Why thank you . I know I so desire your approval.

Re: Obama/Clinton:

Now THAT's funny....it is exceedingly clear that the LAST thing you are looking for 'round here is approval. Be it mine or anyone else's.

It is far more believable that what you so long for is the negative attention our disapproval provides for you. A common trait in neglected children (and pets).

As it is, I really don't approve nor disapprove of you....frankly, for the most part your antics bore me.

Looks and sounds like your nonsense to me. Down the atrocious spelling, disregard for basic grammar, lack of proper capitalization and the odd_use of the_underscore thrown_in.

Proof enough for me...your protestations notwithstanding.

Re: Obama/Clinton:

Ya shoulda stopped with the diary.
Each comment you've made in has made increasingly less sense.
I 'give attention' to every reply to a comment of mine...though, if it makes you feel special, I won't take that away from ya.

Seems to me, the only thing that is 'easy' in this comment thread is getting you to continue your seemingly endless train of non-sequiturs.

So, go at it....I anxiously await your reply.
(really, edge of my seat, bated breath and all that....)

Re: Obama/Clinton:

If the dairy is mine and you came into it to throw your hissy fit. Who was waiting on whom to be baited in again?

cakewalk...

Re: Obama/Clinton:

Hissy fit?
I'm cool as cucumber.
I don't let anonymous fools online get under my skin.

The funny thing is....my original comment was about as close as you'll get to a positive remark from a TU in a diary of yours.

The fact that you admit that your diaries exist only to bait others shows that my initial suspicions were well-founded.

I always hated cakewalks.
The music always sucked and the cakes were always kinda melty.

You're up....

Re: Obama/Clinton:

As far as your diaries go....yes, indeed, my comment was positive. :)

I'm not easy (no matter what my wife says!)...I'm bored. And, until my wife comes home from work, the boob-tube and the computer are the easiest forms of boredom killers.

I'm not much of one for watching t.v.....I'd much rather banter about with a 'live' boob on the internet. Though, even this form of entertainment is nearing it's expiration date.

Thankfully, she should be home soon.

Get in your next digs while they can be 'appreciated'!

Re: Obama/Clinton:

Awww....come on, you can do better than that!
Can't you?

In a primary season where one of the best candidates was a female....you slam a hardworking woman?

As far as me needing to 'man up'....trust you me, had I not done so years ago I'd not be blessed today with the strong, brilliant, beautiful woman that 'splits' the loaf with me.  ;)

Re: Obama/Clinton:

hey we can still talk here , cool.  So as I was saying.... tell me how to do face her in the morning?

OH yeah strong woman (all the respect for women)...

I'm talking about a weak scrub of a man like you . I respect her , just wish she was not so easy to give into falling for you... poor lady. and when growing up she must have thought " One day I will meet the man of my dreams" and he will __ stay at home and live off me  :(

Do you get up and fix her lunch? is your typical day like you know--- clean the toilets blah blah.

and all this grammar correction and you can't even impress Mickey dee to give you a job?

by aliveandkickin 2008-06-30 08:58PM | 0 recs
Re: Obama/Clinton:

There you go again with the demeaning attitude towards strong women. Speaks more to your deficits than to mine (or hers).

Heh...you are gonna love this, I know it....actually, no, I do not make her lunch. Our housekeeper makes breakfast and lunches for us each day. We do dinner ourselves (though, sometimes our hk joins us).
I admit to not having cleaned a toilet since my college days.

As it is, this diary no longer even exists.....she is home....I am tired....and I don't really see this convo going anywhere.

Till next we 'meet' again....

(you are now welcome to the 'last word')

Re: Obama/Clinton:

Awww..now see, there you go ruining a perfectly snarky convo....retaliatory TR's?
How gauche (actually a very appropriate word for all your antics on this site).

Now, who is it that is throwing the hissy fit?  :)

by Kysen 2008-06-30 08:37PM | 0 recs
Re: Obama/Clinton:

You started the TR I obliged. At lest no HR yeah?

So tell me again , how does it feel to be the house boy all day?

I would be careful man. 20/20 had a segment on married women and how they tend to have something on the side when they have 'scrub' for spouses like you.

Sad this banter will come to end. Because of the HR I got below.
Can't see the witty remarks that followed.
Make sure you come in the new diary though and bring your pest along :)

by aliveandkickin 2008-06-30 08:45PM | 0 recs
Re: Obama/Clinton:

Ironically....the HR was not intended.
I meant to TR (trust me, I did NOT mean to mojo it!).
I believe it has been remedied...and, since I caught it myself, was probably fixed prior to your 'hissy fit'.

How I wish I were her houseboy...a man would be so lucky! Alas, we both work...but, are lucky enough to work in fields that allow flexible schedules and long vacations. She works the 'early night' shift 5 days a month...so, 5 days a month I wait up late for her to get home. We can't complain (well, I could...but, really, I shouldn't!).  ;)

Re: Obama/Clinton:

See, there ya go again, denigrating the success of a strong woman!

I do, indeed, work...but, even if for some reason I did not (like, if we had kids or something)...I am secure enough in my manhood to accept my wife being the 'breadwinner'.

What's sad is seeing a supposed Democrat demean women the way you do.

by Kysen 2008-06-30 09:03PM | 0 recs
Re: Obama/Clinton:

I'm not denigrating her ( in fact I write dairies about great strong women)

I just feel bad for her probably working two jobs , so you can be fed and left alone to ' play on the net'.

Re: Obama/Clinton:

A common trait in neglected children (and pets).
Now I know why alive's antics seem familiar. Someone gave me a cat one time because they couldn't keep it anymore. That cat got into the habit of peeing on the bed. It seemed to particularly like my pillow. I came home from work one day to discover my young son had been siccing the dog on the cat while I was at work. He and his buddies thought it was funny to see the cat climbing  the curtains. Once I put a stop to that the misbehavior ended. Alive's antics definitely remind me of that cat's.

Re: Obama/Clinton:

Let's see how many ways you can be wrong in such a few short words...

No 'torture' was involved. The cat could climb curtains all the dog could do is bark. This was harassment, not torture. Sorry for you that you can't see the difference. The cat was probably smarter than you. It placed the blame for that harassment on the humans in the house instead of the dog. It even made a point of singling out the head of the house for special attention. That seemed pretty darn smart to me. More smarts than you've shown me.

"Dad" didn't laugh at this or find it in any way amusing. I put a stop to it as soon as I discovered what was going on.

So let's review your score so far....
"kid torutures pet"? Nope - alive's score 0 for 1
"Father finds it amusing..." Nope - alive's score 0 for 2
Damn, alive. You got this just as wrong as you get everything else. You sure are funny. :)

I think it's a done deal.

I could be wrong, and if he picks someone else I will enthusiastically support his choice, but my sense is that it's a done deal.

And if he does choose her I think she will be a fantastic running mate for him. The VP is often the 'attack dog' and that's a role she is extremely good at (absolutely NOT an insult--completely a compliment). I can see them playing a version of 'good cop/bad cop.' She will go after McCain in the down and dirty style she is so good at but probably couldn't have gotten away with if she were the nominee, thus allowing him to remain above the fray.

by Mystylplx 2008-06-30 06:27PM | 0 recs
Chris Matthews

endorsed the Obama/Clinton ticket idea today.

The one problem with the ticket is that it is pretty susceptible to an onslaught among white males.  McCain will probably only be able to stay with Obama if he gets 65% of the white male vote; I don't know how well Obama/Clinton would sell with TKE audience.  Then again, Obama paired with anyone would get slaughtered among white males.

Romney and Pawlenty

are allegedly the two guys receiving the most consideration from McCain, with Romney pulling into the lead according to Politico (Obama may be too strong in Wisconsin and Minnesota for Pawlenty to have much of an impact).

How would you like Romney v. Clinton?  Romney has wanted a piece of her for quite some time; Hillary would fry this fish.

Jim Webb

I think Webb is more likely, and here is my central reasoning.  I believe Hillary is compelled to campaign for him now, for various reasons.  He has her support and she is campaigning for him which will attract all but the fringe, and none of the baggage or high negatives she would have brought as well.  Combine her being a strong surrogate, with Webb's military background and attractiveness to a group seen as his problem area and it seems like a no doubter to me.  Gets the benefit while also addressing other needs.

It truly is a shame that the crazys have hijacked media coverage of Hillary support, they have, to her great detriment they have become the loudest voice.
