Lanny Davis to Join fox news

Well folks we knew it was only a matter of time before he did this, but lets take a look at old uncle Lanny.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con tent/article/2008/06/15/AR2008061501890_ 3.html?hpid=topnews

"Fox has always treated me with respect and given me a chance to express my point of view," Davis says of the network that the Democratic candidates refused to grant a debate out of concern that it favors Republicans. He will be a frequent guest, along with such Fox stalwarts as Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich.

A relentless surrogate for Hillary Clinton, Davis says, he felt "ganged up on" during appearances on the other cable channels. He says that Clinton was "demonized" by MSNBC's Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann, and that CNN's primary-night panels were tilted toward the Obama side.

Here are some moments to remember Lanny Davis best by.

Oh Lanny how we won't miss you. Here is Lanny Davis talking about the enemy list on fox.

Yes folks it is over, but it isn't over for Lanny Davis.

Old Uncle Lanny we won't miss you, but enjoy being a traitor to the Democratic party on Fox. We also knew that is where you fit in best. Here is the moment that Lanny Davis joined fox with praise.

Hannity loved Lanny Davis before fox did.

Lanny we won't miss you. Good bye!

Re: Lanny Davis to Join fox news

Senator Clinton is better than a lot of the lousy folks she keeps as surrogates. I hope that the end of her Presidential Campaign spurs her to dump a lot of these losers. She could join a long line of Democrats (Gore, Kerry) to have post-defeat revelations.

surrogates were the many problem during the

primary. It wasn't the two running it was more the people underneath who seemed to create issues that shouldn't be there.

He was great. Fox knows it's the Dem's year

He was quite good on Fox. The network is not as scary as you guys think.

Fox hired another Democratic political analyst for Hannity & Colmes. Her name is Kirsten Powers and she's young.

She did crush Coulter once on-air.  She's better than  most Fox News Democrats.

That's my extremely qualified defense of her.  You'll notice that I didn't dispute her being a hack.  The most I can say about that is that she's a lot less hackish than many other hacks.

I kind of agree.

She has no grasp of history and she buys into the media narrative.

She saw no reason to seat any portion of MI and FL delegates (hello - to win the G.E. in November.)

Re: I kind of agree.

She saw no reason to seat any portion of MI and FL delegates (hello - to win the G.E. in November.)

The context of her argument was not seating FL/MI for purposes of determining the nominee.  Lacking determinative powers, every Democrat and non-Democrat in the USA knew the entire FL/MI delegations would be seated with full voting powers (I fully expect that to happen at the convention).

Still, she's a hack, but at least represent her hackitude correctly (and the FL/MI position may not be included there).

I salute you Lanny Davis.

Congratulations on your retirement of shame, imagine walking around your whole life convincing people you are a democrat only to crawl hands and knees only to beg at the feet of Hannity and Murdoch for a job.

God the man is so pathetic, if he realizes no Democrat wants to ever hire him again, why not retire with dignity.

I feel sorry for Hillary today, how embarrassing.

Retire with dignity.

You could say that for a lot of people.  I suspect Lanny Davis saw only two choices left to him: going to work for Fox News, or being a troll on MyDD.  They are very similar jobs in content, although Fox News pays better.

Propaganda - The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause.

When it comes to making up stories and pushing political goals you cease being a news group.
I guess MSNBC has ceased in being a "news group"

Why are you so quick to defend them.

Re: Since MSNBC...

You are in a way defending FOX by saying, they are just like MSNBC. While MSNBC are no angels, and deserve a lot of criticism, FOX has not even been close in fairness. There are just way too many journalistic crimes committed by FOX over a decade. They got rid of their most even handed host(Eric Burns who hosted that reporters roundtable late Sunday night Newswatch). Their only true liberal strong personality Neil Gabler was removed around the same time.

They are not even close to being fair and balanced. Colmes is Hannity's bitch. Colmes may voice the liberal side, but only when he is given time. THe pace and agenda of Hannity and Colmes is controlled clearly by Hannity with a few crumbs thrown Colmes' way.

Re: Since MSNBC...

You are seriously going to give FOX a pass based on their "evenhanded" coverage of a SINGLE candidate(never mind, they unfairly bashed the Clintons ove rthe years)?

Nevermind, FOX has been wrong on more important issues like the iraq war. But your feelings are more important than the lives of many US soldiers and Iraquis. Your soreloser feelings are more important than the many issues facing us. FOX was less harsh to your candidate for once, anad they become magically a fair and balanced network.

Re: Since MSNBC...

I'm not giving Fox "a pass," I'm not going to give MSNBC "a pass" either.

Fox has a conservative slant and MSNBC has a liberal slant. Both have a bias.

Re: Since MSNBC...

MSNBC has a liberal slant????
Joe Scarborough(he is moderate at best, certainly not liberal), Tucker Carlson, firing Donahue when he had better ratings than his replacement, hiring that joke of a host Rita Cosby from FOX.

All that more than makes up for the fact that they hire Olbermann who is an advocate for the liberal side.

Chris Matthews has had moments of clarity on the liberal side. But he more than makes up for it with his fawning over Bush in the past.

Re: Since MSNBC...

MSNBC has a liberal slant????
For the most part, yes; with the exception of Joe Scarborough who considers himself a libertarian and his sidekick Pat Buchanan who is a paleoconservative. When it comse to political pundits, MSNBC has a liberal slant.

Here's my list of left leaning pundits;

Keith Olbermann
Chris Matthews
David Shuster
Dan Abrams
Mika Brzezinski
David Gregory
Eugene Roberts
Rachael Maddow

Re: Since MSNBC...

You are a joke. I just cited you other factors which you ignore totally. You add up all the guests on the show to buttress up your side? And the liberal guests have grown only in recent years when it has been futile to even try to be evehanded about the Bush administration which has only a 30% approval rating. Look at the guests and hosts over the last 5 years. Chris Matthews most certainly has not been on the liberal side. He has been caught being way too chummy revealing some "secret" stuff to Tom Delay who seems to treat him like some errand boy in a moment captured off stage on camera that was leaked to the internet. Chris has famously had a boycrush over Bush for a lot of years until common sense finally hit him.

We're talking about NOW

You are a joke.
That's a matter of opinion; you're entitled to it.

I just cited you other factors which you ignore totally.
Fair enough...I looked at the points you made; I already addressed Scarborough. In reference to Tucker; he was kick to the curb wasn't he? Probably because is show sucked, but he's gone. The cancellation of Donahue was 8 years ago, I'm talking about NOW. Rita Cosby has been history for a long time now. In reference to Chris Matthews; IMO, he tries to appear moderate but I personally believe he leans left. Why don't you name some pundits that lean right on MSNBC besides the ones already discussed?

by soyousay 2008-06-16 12:29PM | 0 recs
Re: We're talking about NOW
Scarborough - Right(though he does a good job listening to the liberals on his show).
Matthews - Moderate(he has had plenty of Bush loving moments in the past to say that he leans left. he also made fun of the Libby trial and was no fan of the prosecutor. he has come around now.)
Tucker Carlson. The guy just got fired for low ratings. not because of his ideology.
Donahue - got fired for his ideology alone.
Olbermann. His boss wanted him fired and even shouted at Olbermann on one occasion. His relatively high ratings protects him at MSNBC.
Dan Abrams is pretty even handed. His liberalism is no way close to the right wing bias you see on FOX. Except Olbermann, the hosts you see on MSNBC are marginally liberal at  best. Compare that to the wingnuts on FOX. Even their regular newsreaders have crazy captions being displayed while they read the news.
by Pravin 2008-06-16 12:48PM | 0 recs
Re: We're talking about NOW

You just repeated the pundits already discussed! Nothing new.

In reference to Abrams, yes he's pretty even handed. Olbermann is extremely liberal, IMO.

MSNBC are marginally liberal at  best.
You probably see it this way because you're pretty liberal aren't you? I consider myself a Moderate Democrat.

Re: We're talking about NOW

I am for school choice, death penalty, lower taxes smaller government. Just look at my profile.

I dont see them as marginally liberal because i am libverla. I look at their record, what they discuss. If you see more liberal guests recently, it's only because they ran through the conservative guests multiple times in the past and their words have been totally discredited with respect to hot issues like the iraq war. Just because hosts tend to come around to a liberal viewpoint on an issue means they have a bias to an extreme. Maybe they finally saw some sense in the idea.

Lanny Davis was deranged during Lamont election

Lanny Davis is pure scum. This guy was a freaking joke during the Lieberman-Lamont campaign and the words he used against fellow Democrats was much worse than what he has used since then to prop up jokers like the FOX NEWS idiots.

He went on extended rants on CNN bashing progressives for having the temerity to attack Lieberman on blogs. And then, he goes on and on selectively choosing the most provocative COMMENTS from diaries. HE does not even cite the diaries, but the comments. This is what kind of moron we are dealing with. SOmeone should have  beaten the crap out of him for the amount of slander he perpetuated on liberals in 2006.

He took democrats to task for bashing Lieberman on "ONE" issue while he has yet to say an unkind word about Lieberman losing his marbles on other democrats on the very same "one" issue.

Then again, I guess everyone would just be much more comfortable if they were just hiring Rethugs, right?

Face it, you'd bitch about this no matter what Fox did.

(And, for the record, I think Fox sucks...but, recently, Matthews, Olbermann and everyone at MSNBC have been giving FOX a run for their money in the bias department. That is, if you're of the school that believe ALL BIAS and PROPAGANDA in the news is not good.)

Re: I'm not getting the slant here, folks!

Not necessarily - I mean, Colmes has been on the network forever opposite Hannity, and no one knows who the hell he is.  They can hire Democrats who won't make any waves against their more popular Republican "journalists" in order to give their messaging a pretense of legitimacy, without fear that those Democrats will dispute the underlying message.  It's a smart move on their part and one that is unlikely to change any of the network's pre-packaged content.  So no, I don't see it as an unqualified good.

Also, I want to point out that there's a difference between bias and propaganda.  Fox News is the only network that consistently just makes stuff up.

Self righteousness will get us no where.  Wow, you people are really  sad, honestly.  How would it be handled if someone brought up Obama being buddy-buddy with Rezko and his sliminess?  I'm sure everyone would freak- but when it's a Clinton person JUST BEING ON FOX NEWS?  Come on, sad- and frankly pathetic.  Another reason I can BARELY read this blog.

Re: Lanny Davis to Join fox news

Lanny Davis probably thinks there's no place in an Obama Presidency for him, ergo he has to earn a little coin.

Fox it is!

Re: Lanny Davis to Join fox news
I believe it was John Cole who said that Davis and Ferrarro should get a FOX Noise show together. Call it "the Racial Resentment Hour". lol

Re: Lanny Davis to Join fox news

PLEASE PLEASE FOX hire Ferraro!

Wouldnt it be great if all the Democrats on Fox were from the hall of shame?

Imagine a panel with Ferraro, Davis, Ikes, Penn, and drumroll..........  Traficant!

Awesome

This is a stupid thing .....

to be obsessed about.  Of course, here on the "anything Clinton or anyone associated with Clinton is bad" blog, of course it's a free for all to slam Lanny Davis, just like they slammed Joe WIlson over at orange sewer when he endorsed Hillary.

Lanny Davis has done more for the Democratic Party during his time defending Bill Clinton than most of you all will ever acheive in your lifetime.  Only those who hold the Clintons in contempt continue to try to denigrate the folks associated with them, unless of course, they somehow show up on Obama's team like Doyle, then of course, they are 'saved' and now part of the fold.

Yes, FOX sucks, but I'd rather have someone with the experience and ability of Lanny Davis there than having some token like Colmes.

Let it go.

Re: Lanny Davis to Join fox news

If you don't agree with it, then state your disagreement in adult terms.  It's like 3rd grade in here.   It is pathetic to see the fit people are having over someone who made a choice that doesn't coincide with their own likes and dislikes. Is it really necessary to tear down the man's career and claim he is trash because he doesn't agree with you.  I would expect this on DKos, but I have had a little more respect for the level of discourse here.   It seems like a good thing to me to have some saner democratic voices on Fox, but please continue with ewwwwing, and pretend vomiting and such. I don't want to interrupt anything.
