I have been pushing some candidates in California for a couple of weeks, mainly Progressive Majority endorsed candidates. In the June 3rd primary election, those candidates did very well.
First off is a race for Superior Court Judge (office 125) where I covered the rather shocking news that a white supremicist, Bill Johnson, was running for judge as a Democrat. The good news is that Bill Johnson lost. His opponent, James Bianco, won with more than 73% of the vote. The main down side is nearly 25% of DEMOCRATIC voters in the district voted for a white supremicist. This in no way suggests those voters are white supremicists. It shows that so few people actually pay attention to the judicial races that they cluelessly vote for a white supremicist probably because they liked his name better. This is why you will find me publicizing judicial races as often as I can using as much information as I can: people need to know more about who they are electing as judges.

This was going to be a historic moment no matter what. Once the field narrowed to Obama and Clinton, we KNEW we would make history. We would have either the first black or first woman nominated for President by one of the two major parties. Well, THIS, folks, is history. Real and amazing history. We have now done what our parents couldn't do.
Now is the time to get it right. Now is the time to come together. Now is the time...the Dream comes true this year bigger and brighter than it has ever been dreamed before. Let's do this thing TOGETHER.

On June 3rd there is a primary election in California. Primaries are our chance to make the Democratic Party more progressive, an opportunity too often missed. Progressive Majority is an organization that recruits, trains and helps elect progressive democrats in local elections. They have one of the best success rates of any progressive grassroots organizations (about 50%) and recently won big in Arizona and Wisconsin.
Progressive Majority have some candidates running in California on June 3rd who need your support. Here is a list of candidates running in California who have been endorsed by Progressive Majority):

Yesterday night we came within a whisker of the Senate de facto declaring war on Iran. If it were not for the courageous leadership of Senators Jim Webb and Dick Durbin, notorious Vice-presidential henchmen and self-appointed armchair generals Senators Joe Lieberman and Jon Kyl could very likely have pulled off the stunt to commit the Senate to regime change in Iran and cater the Vice with more preemptive obedience than he could have ever asked for. With such a Congressional carte blanche, a trump to lead whenever suitable, the path to war would have been irreversibly trodden, its apologists afterwards being able to refer to full Congressional support for their warmongering.
And progressive America? Corporate media, rather debating the MoveOn.org charade or reporting on the hot air and empty rhetoric oozed at the UN, fulfilled their role to inform the American public in an exemplary manner, our presidential hopefuls in the Senate remained as low-key as official Beijing on the peoples power displayed in the streets of Myanmar, and the standard bearers of the progressive netroots, except for a few individual bloggers and the impressive coverage at ThinkProgress and Iran Nuclear Watch, seemed to have traded activism for Sleeping Beauty-mode. What a pathetic display!

The foreign policy stakes over the next twelve months are too high to leave the field to George Bush and the machinators around him to cement their legacy, and for us to settle for everything to improve come January 20, 2009. This time "Help is on the way!" won't be enough, help gotta be fielded here and now. It is imperative to prepare the ground for a new administration to take over and prevent the tragedy in Iraq from escalating. For the sake of America's soldiers in Iraq and the Iraqi people, but also for our chances to win this election. Or what party do you think would benefit from war with Iran as an accelerated "October Surprise"?
What if the U.S. were to find herself in an all out war with Iran by, let's say, April? With Hezbollah retaliating from the Strait of Hormuz to Lebanon, with U.S. soldiers in Iraq fighting for their mere survival, and every American civilian and institution around the globe being considered fair game for 'soft target' terrorist attacks? Do you truly think in that atmosphere of paranoia the American people would take the risk to elect Hillary/Obama/Edwards their Commander-in-Chief? Gone the comfy lead in polls, and welcome Prez 'Ultra-Hawk' Rudy or John 'Bomb Iran' McCain!
