Faith and Politics

I am writing this diary in response to a question posed by a reader here about whether there are Obama supporters who disagree with the rhetoric and tone of the clips going around of Rev. Wright.

I support and continue to support Barack Obama, and I do disagree with the rhetoric and the tone expressed in those clips.

I think there's a danger that people will get a false impression of Senator Obama's political views and his private faith life from them.

Let me explain...

Obama must be stopped! Call to action for Clinton backers!

As we know, idiot voters (cultists) have been voting for Barack Obama in overwhelming numbers of late. He will doom the Democratic Party!

I am calling all Clinton backers to take action TODAY!

We must get Clinton supporters to show up at EVERY Obama rally with megaphones and tell all of these cultists showing up to worship Obama that they are, well, cultists, idiots and suckers!

I suggest using the following phrases to dissuade these idiots from supporting the sick, sad Obama:

"You are all in a cult! You are fools! You are idiots if you support this man! Idiots! Suckers!"

Another bit of hypocrisy: Hillarybot whiners who trollrate others

Isnt it funny how we have endured multiple complaints of MYDDers who are Hillary supporters(some of them justified) about Dkos. HOw they unfairly got targeted and lost their Trusted User status over there. Now I see the same kind of ratings abuse by many in that Hillary community. I tried to do a reverse mojo for some of the abuses and decided not to waste my time anymore. I tried complaining to MYDD but they turn a blind eye. So do we non Hillarybots take matters into our own hands and fight back? Or do we just give up and let the lunatics run the asylum?

While the recommendations of diaries have always been a little silly regardless of the supporters, it has gotten really silly in recent days, though that is not as big a deal. What I see is an explosion of cheerleading 2 ratings to boost each others mojo and indiscrimate use of the 1 and 0 ratings. I tried to hit back for a few days, but then decided it would be just a waste of time and counterproductive.

At this point, I really do not care. But if others join in, I am game. We can do whatever it takes to get the admins to take this abuse more seriously. Or if they want to let us  settle things among ourselves, we will gladly do so. What is it? Do you want open war on this blog?

The Big Empty

"It's time to get real" ...

Yes, let's get real ... by attacking speeches ... in a speech!  By warning against the power of inspiration that moves voters to the polls ... and promising a torrent of negative advertising that depresses voter turnout.

By pulling stupid stunts like working the night shift with actual hard working people.  Geez, inspirational words won't help these people get health care ... but dragging the press corps along with you and pretending to do actual work will?

By convincing a bunch of megarich people to pony up $100K each so that you can chide Obama for considering not taking public financing.

By appropriating GOP language, saying Barack Obama isn't ready to be commander in chief ... letting this toxic Republican misreading of the Constitution that turns a President's wartime powers over troops into warlord-decider stature ... allow it to gain currency from a Democrat.  For shame, Hillary.

By promising to use every trick in the book to get to a majority of delegates and letting her attack dogs demean 40 states and anyone who voted for her opponent.

I've had it with the condescension from Hillary's supporters.  We're celebrity obsessed?  Who do you think you're supporting, Barbara Mikulsky?  She's the wife of a former President and it's the only reason she ever made it into the Senate.

She's run a terrible campaign.  She's a cautious, fairly worthless to liberalism Senator who voted for a rotten war and has never stood up once to fillibuster any number of Bush travesties.  Insult us all you want -- call us delusional, one thing is certain, this party has roundly, soundly rejected your candidate.

I Went to Hillary's Event Tonight for a Final Gutcheck.

I went to the event tonight, to hear her...to give her the respect she deserves and to give her a chance to win me back.

For starters, the room was cordoned off to give the appearence of it being "past capacity".  She squeezed about 3000 people into a space that could have fit 4 times that number.

Secondly, there was not that much excitement in the air. The crowd was well...subdued.  We actually got numerous reminders from staff walking around to "whoop it up"...especially when the cameras came on, to create the appearence of unbridled exictement.

Thirdly, her speech was like a batter taking a mighty chop at a fastball and whiffing.  I'll give her credit for swinging for the fences, but her message was convoluted as she was clearly attempting a more populistdelivery in attempt to appear more like her rival.

It wasn't a TERRIBLE night for her.  She had some of the 2nd tier Wisconsin players with her...though Tammy Baldwin is an A-lister!

Bit here;s the thing...I attended Obama's Madison event as well, and if you look at my critique of this event...you'll notice as I have just done...that the word "appearences" figures largely.

Where HRC's campaign has been and still is about appearences (appearing inevitable, appearing to be the incumbant, appearing to be a change agent, appearing to be an orator, etc.), her rival's campaign is about inspiration and leadership.

One thing to note on the PLUS side for the HRC supporters:  Take Heart Hillraisers!

A local conservative radio show host, Viki McKenna, has told her sizable local audience that she and her producer are going to go vote for Hillary and is encouraging others to do so as well.

Wisconsin is an OPEN primary, meaning that the independents and GOP can vote in the Democratic race AT WILL.  Given the fact that it is well-known that Hillary will be the preferred candidate for the right to run against, and given the further fact that the Wiscosnin race is rather tight... this could be trouble.

We Barack supporters out there must reach more new voters and get them in the voting booths than Viki and her ilk can mobilize.  The right knows what Obama's supporters know...that is that he is (regardless of race or gender) the strongest general election candidate.

This has me spooked.

One other note regarding the SILLY plagiarism "story".

From Websters:

pla·gia·rism     Pronunciation[pley-juh-riz-uhm] noun
1.    the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work.

Please.  If this is what HRC is going to focus on then she and her supporters are truly lost.
