"Earlier today, Sen. Obama attacked Hillary on Iraq by invoking Sen. Rockefeller and incorrectly saying that the WVA Senator opposed the 2002 Iraq vote. The truth is that Sen. Rockefeller voted for the war resolution - not against it as Sen. Obama suggested to the people of Ohio. This seems to be an Obama campaign talking point since its top strategist also claimed that Sen. Rockefeller voted against the war resolution when he was on national television this morning.
"'Sen. Obama is so desperate to divert attention from his limited national security experience that he's not just misleading voters about Sen. Clinton, he's also misleading voters about his own supporters. That is not change you can believe in.' -- Clinton spokesperson Phil Singer" (Facthub)
Additionally: I heard Obama campaign manager David Axelrod repeat the same lie about Sen. Rockefeller today on ABC's This Week. I have relistened to the segment, which is still on my DVR. So it's a widespread Obama campaign meme for today -- to spread this outright lie. It is near the top of the show, at the 55:45 mark [i.e., 55:45 minutes left in the show].
ABC News's blog, Political Radar, caught both Obama's and Axelrod's misstatements today. The quote is below.

PREFACE: Former ambassador Joseph Wilson has posted his commentary, "The Real Hillary I Know -- and the Unreal Obama," at No Quarter. It's powerful testimony, and full of examples from the foreign policy expert.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I know some of you have been unhappy with my posts of late -- and one of the dearest regulars over at No Quarter blog (it's Larry Johnson's blog, but he asked me a couple years ago to post there) telephoned me about it last night. I care very much what you think. You deserve a short explanation: I'm scared to death the Democrats are going to nominate a smart young guy because he's a "symbol" -- who isn't vetted sufficiently, doesn't have enough experience (yet), and doesn't get nearly the press scrutiny that Sen. Clinton gets. Joe Conason writes vividly about the scrutiny. And the WaPo's Howie Kurtz cites examples galore in "For Clinton, A Matter of Fair Media," and it's a must-read in full:
"She's just held to a different standard in every respect," says Mark Halperin, Time's editor at large. "The press rooted for Obama to go negative, and when he did he was applauded. When she does it, it's treated as this huge violation of propriety."
Then there's that Barack Obama is Karl Rove's dream candidate. To beat. Radio show host Taylor Marsh analyzed this brilliantly in "Why are Karl Rove and the Neocons Endorsing Barack Obama?." Taylor Marsh, nobody's fool, gives example after example -- all must-reads -- of why "in Republican back rooms everywhere, the wolves see a lamb coming to slaughter and they're licking their chops."
Then there's Steve Clemon's Washington Note post this morning, "Times of London on Obama's Europe Void" ...

Several bloggers have rolled out the interesting news that Ambassador Joseph Wilson has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president. Greg Sargent at TPM Election Central was there:
Wilson just said that "she is the one candidate in my judgment who understands the need to get America out of harm's way," and into a "political process." He added that she best understands the need to "end the war but end it in a way that preserves some shred of our strategic position in the region."[snip]
Wilson also says that one thing that bonds the two is their mutual experience with the "meat grinder" -- a.k.a., the right wing slime machine.
As Sargent notes, this is clearly part of Clinton's strategy to gain support among the liberal base, the blogosphere in particular, which she has conspicuously held at arm's length. Coming as it does via conference call with liberal bloggers 2 weeks prior to the start of YearlyKos, the Clinton campaign apparently believes Wilson's endorsement will give her a sort of she's-one-of-us cred among bloggers, if only to lessen the boos she gets at the YearlyKos presidential forum. And it just may work.

Although FOX News has finally succumbed to the pressure to pull its despicable O.J. Special, it has now signed on to an even more disgraceful enterprise: Dick Cheney's provocative new book: IF I DID IT --FAKED WMD.
Scheduled to appear on FOX with Sean Hannity, Cheney asserts in his book that the first thing he would have done is get an Iraqi screwball named "Curveball" to claim that Saddam had mass stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons -- based in a Shia trailer park in the slums of Sadr City.
Then, as a "change of pace," he would have claimed that a roll of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil that Iraqis used to store their leftover yellow sponge cake was actually part of a reconstituted nuclear weapons program. (Editor's Note: This at a time when Baghdad actually had electricity for refrigerators.)

Today is the 10th Day of Cheney, the last day of my "10 Days of Cheney" series. I'm sure that some of my friends will be happy to hear that since I have been sending them e-mails about it every day for the last week and a half. LOL The purpose of the series has been to draw attention to Cheney's scandals and scandalous acts prior to his September 22 fundraiser for Eric Massa's opponent Randy Kuhl in NY-29. Eric is appealing to the netroots to help him compete with the Cheney fundraiser. You can donate
here.
Today I am writing about Cheney's role in the outing of Valerie Plame. Buzzflash recently interviewed Ambassador Wilson about the Plame case and one question they asked was whether he thought his wife might have been an intentional target rather than a coincidental target. (link)
