The Desperation of McCain Supporters a.k.a. I'm Coming Home Tomorrow

As I've been mentioning, tomorrow I'm returning home from Rome to New York, then to Virginia to join my brother in locking that state up for Obama in the final weeks of this campaign.

I had decided to do it a month ago when Obama fell behind in the polls and I panicked. Now that we're in landslide territory, I feel a similar, if not bigger, sense of urgency to put this thing away.

Part of that feeling is because of the desperatation of McCain supporters who have become really mean, vindictive and scary in the past week or so

Democratic unity and the Biden pick

So, what was the impact on Democratic unity from the Biden pick?

John McCain is certainly betting on it and he's trying to nurse disunity along with an ad saying that Clinton was dissed.  But what do the first polls show?

Gallup found that, among Democrats

21% say they are more likely to vote for Obama as a result of Biden's presence on the ticket, and only 2% say less likely.

You heard that - that's a 19 point pick up (21 minus 2) for Obama among Democrats with the Biden pick. Only 2% are less likely to vote for him.

Props to Democratic unity!

I really like Biden, even though it's a risky move.

A blogger I respect, Jeralyn at TalkLeft, a former Hillary supporter who has thrown her support to the (presumptive) Democratic nominee, holds Biden in little regard.  She has stated her reasons and I respect her right to decide for herself.   Biden as VP may affect her decision to support the top of the Dem ticket.  For me, I think Biden's a great choice.  I also think, in light of current polling, it is a risky choice.   IMO, the safe choice would have been the Unity ticket, Obama/Clinton.

If you don't like the ticket, STFU

It's just good manners.  Unlike some on this site, I've never stalked any individual for holding views I disagree with.  I've never jumped in diaries I disagree with just to fight.  I don't think I've posted personal insults or gratuitously profane remarks (well, not much - see title).

But, now that the ticket is set, this site is a rallying point for that ticket.

Now with mint update !!! A Washington insider undercutting his message of change . . .

First, Hillary was a sign of evil dynastic politics.

Then, she was too conservative, and too close to the DLC.

Finally, as VP pick, Hillary was a Washington insider who would undercut Obama's message of change.

So where are we now ?
