What Glen Greenwald said...

The number of Obama followers writing to me on Twitter and elsewhere telling me that left-wing critics of the President are the primary cause of the election's outcome -- rather than massive economic suffering and the actions of their Leader -- is even more than I expected.  Bizarrely, they actually seem to have convinced themselves of this; I suppose one who is desperate to cling to their leader-love will find any theory that shields him from responsibility.  Behold the supreme power of the Professional Left!!

Over the weekend as total chaos broke out in Iran one wouldn't have known anything about it if they weren't on the tubes. As E.D Kain writes,

if I wasn't online, an avid blogger and reader of blogs, and if I didn't frequent the New York Times, I wouldn't know a damn thing about the phenomenon in Iran.  It would feel like just any other story from the "crazy Middle East." I wouldn't have seen images of the streets of green-clad protestors.  I wouldn't have seen the beatings or the fires or read the twitter feeds or the first hand accounts.  I wouldn't have seen the youtube videos.  And lest it be forgotten, the news most people receive if they receive any at all is from their televisions.

Fox News Belittles and Mocks the Canadian Military. UPDATED

(cross posted at kickin it with cg and motley moose)

Sure some US TV shows make fun of Canada sometimes, but it's usually in a fun lighthearted manner. This segment by Fox News however was not even close to being funny, and lacks any respect for the Canadian Military and Canadians in general.

This utter and complete failure came on the heels of a report that 4 Canadian soldiers died today in Afghanistan.

By a high proportion, Canada has suffered more in losses in Afghanistan than any NATO ally. (The US population, at nearly 300 million, is ten times larger than Canada; the UK population is double the size).

Coalition deaths in Afghanistan by country
 USA: 594
 UK: 152
 Canada: 116
 Germany: 31
 France: 27
 Spain: 25
 Denmark: 23
 Netherlands: 18
 Italy: 13
 Australia: 10
 Poland: 9
 Romania: 9
 Czech Republic: 3
 Estonia: 3
 Norway: 3
 Hungary: 2
 Portugal: 2
 South Korea: 2
 Sweden: 2
 Finland: 1
 Latvia: 1
 Lithuania: 1
TOTAL: 1,045

I honestly cannot believe that people watch this network and think that it is good.  The segment above is part of the Fox News Red Eye Report and they can be reached at redeye@foxnews.com.

My Rape Story

I was 12 or 13 years old, back in '72 or '73.   It was summer.   I played outside with my friends and did whatever young boys do, with time on their hands and no supervision.   My friend Bob and I were outside goofing around.  We ran into Jimmy, a man that lived in the neighborhood.  He was tall, thin, had a mustache and long hair, in his late 20's or early 30's.   He often said hello to me as he walked by.   Bob and I saw him and we got to talking.   There was a forest preserve across the street from my house, where I often played.   As we walked along talking, we entered the woods.  I had no reason to be suspicious.   I was always in those woods.
