The Axelrods Thank Hillary

Former Ambassador Joseph Wilson posted a blog on The Huffington Post and other websites yesterday describing how Obama's campaign, orchestrated by top political strategist David Axelrod, has launched a full-throttle assault on Hillary Clinton's character (read it here).
To astute election observers, Wilson's refreshingly blunt narrative offers few revelations. Under Axelrod's direction Obama unpacked his footlocker of Chicago rough-and-tumble election tricks months ago and has been dropping them with the regularity of horse manure across the campaign trail. The smears against Hillary typically are delivered by campaign surrogates so that Obama himself appears not only to stay above the fray, but to be the victim of evil Clinton maneuvers. Jesse Jackson Jr. perfected such a play with his memorable "Katrina tears" rant following Obama's loss in New Hampshire, and at that moment hatched the biggest fiction of this election season, that the Clintons have played the race card -- a meme that the Obama-fawning MSM have carelessly perpetuated. David Axelrod himself has accused Hillary of weaving an "insidious pattern" of racism during the campaign (link).
Axelrod's willingness to tear down Hillary Clinton in order to pump up his own thinly-credentialed client is especially appalling given the compassionate commitment Hillary selflessly displayed during the Axelrod family's time of need. Joseph Wilson explains:
He and his wife were direct beneficiaries of Hillary Clinton's personal kindness and public policy experience when, in the midst of the impeachment trial of her husband, she travelled to Chicago to support Susan Axelrod's efforts to raise money for her foundation, Citizens United for Research on Epilepsy (CURE), established by her after one of the Axelrod children was afflicted with the malady. As reported in the New York Times in April, 2007:"It was January 1999, President Clinton's impeachment trial was just beginning in the Senate and Hillary Clinton was scheduled to speak at the foundation's fund-raiser in Chicago. Despite all the fuss back in Washington, Clinton kept the appointment. She spent hours that day in the epilepsy ward at Rush Presbyterian hospital, visiting children hooked up to machines by electrodes so that doctors might diagram their seizure activity and decide which portion of the brain to remove. At the hospital, a local reporter pressed her about the trial in Washington, asked her about that woman. At the organization's reception at the Drake Hotel that evening, Clinton stood backstage looking over her remarks, figuring out where to insert anecdotes about the kids. "She couldn't stop talking about what she had seen," Susan Axelrod recalled. Later, at Hillary Clinton's behest, the National Institutes of Health convened a conference on finding a cure for epilepsy. Susan Axelrod told me it was "one of the most important things anyone has done for epilepsy." And this is how politics works: David Axelrod is now dedicated to derailing this woman's career."
This is the same David Axelrod who linked Hillary to Bhutto's assasination (link) and said about the Clintons (Bill, by the way, has also supported CURE): "They would do anything to win, and that means anything...There is a frenetic energy around them to commandeer this election in any way they can." (link.)
Apparently, though, it's David Axelrod who will say or do anything to win, even if it means murdering the character of a woman who went to bat for his sick child.
