Question About Site Archives

I know I really should not be taking up a whole diary to do this, but I would really like to know an easy way to go back and look at some old MyDD diary archives from the 2002 and 2004 elections.

Lindesey Sets Record Straight re: Bill's Pres. Papers

I've been following the attacks on Hillary over the release of Bill's documents by the National Archives, and I touched on it a little the other day in a diary I posted over on DailyKos.  This all started when Russert (true to form) waived a 13 year old - routine - letter in front of everyone and asked Hillary WHY she and Bill were refusing to release his presidential papers before next year's elections.

I just got the following information from Bruce Lindsey, who serves as Bill Clinton's Records Representative which totally sets the record straight here - I'll let Bruce speak for himself over the fold...

Cheney: the 4th Branch of Government

In case you haven't seen this interesting primary source, here's Rep. Waxman's letter to Cheney regarding the VP's claim that he is not part of the executive branch:

Interestingly, the saving grace in all of this is our ever litigious society.  This country -- Washington in particular -- is so chock-a-block with lawyers that there is no way this will fade from attention any time soon.  Not because of the imperial nature of it per se, but because of the novelty of the legal assertion.  Cheney's will be the face that launched a thousand law review articles -- and very likely a court case that may well linger into the next Administration.  And ultimately the Supreme Court will decide that Cheney is wrong, in a decision that will be a perverse bookend to the one that ushered him into office, Bush v. Gore.  Dick will be out of office at that point and free to spend his retirement shooting his friends rather than screwing the country, but at least he'll be rebuked quite publicly, giving us a good lesson in imperial overreach in the process.  I only wonder if we'll heed it.
