Bob Bauer on the Change Congress Donor Strike

From the diaries - Todd

For those of you not familiar with Bob Bauer, he is one of the nation's leading election lawyers, representing, among others, Barack Obama on personal matters, the Obama for America campaign, the Democrat's House and Senate campaign committees, and the Democratic National Committee.  Last year, Bauer took on Republicans throughout the campaign, fighting against attempts to "callously attempting to dismantle needed reforms to make up for their fundraising deficiencies." Bob Bauer also led Barack Obama's massive nationwide voter protection network over the course of the campaign.

This week, Bob Bauer put his thoughts on the Change Congress Donors' Strike on paper, giving a thorough analysis of Change Congress' fight to remove big money from American politics.  Bauer posted his take on his blog, and the full post can be viewed below.

Why I support Change Congress

(Crossposted at Veritosity.com)

NOTE: For an explanation of what Blogrolling for Change is and how to get involved, click here.

When I was a senior in high school, The Nation had a contest where they asked high school and college students across the country what the most important issue facing young people was. In writing my response I deliberately chose to misread the question - rather than telling The Nation what I thought young people cared about the most, I decided to tell them what I thought the most important issue was, period. The answer? Undue corporate power and influence, particularly when it comes to the American political process.

Will Joe Trippi Bring Down Edwards?

Cross posted to Economists for Obama

Despite the recent dust-up over the "inclusive" vs. the "populist" strategy, the differences between Edwards and Obama in terms of policy are tiny. And looking at the whole package, my guess is their general election campaign and governing styles wouldn't be all that different. Given his past record, I doubt Edwards would run the full-throttle populist campaign Krugman is hoping for, and likewise Obama isn't the centrist pushover some have made him out to be.

On one major point, though, the Obama and Edwards campaigns differ markedly. Obama has run a highly professional campaign, with tight coordination and agreement between the campaign's three principals: David Plouffe, David Axelrod, and Obama himself.

Edwards, in contrast, has allowed his operation to be hijacked by Joe Trippi.

Joe Trippy is a Phony. So says Holden Caulfield. (updated)

(This is reposted and updated because I learned something new about this Trippi attack today. )

------------ Note: If anyone on Team Edwards sees this diary, please send it to Trippi. I'd like him to know what a former colleague of his thinks about his latest attempt to spin his good 'friends'at the NY Times what an outstanding and sincere liberal he is. We who know Trippi, know what a crock this is. Trippi is first and foremost a phony. Always has been. ------------------------

I am here today at myDD because I am getting very, very sick of watching people that Ive known for a long time attacking Hillary Clinton, pretending that somehow that she is "corrupted" by politics, while they are clean.

Two campaign aides are guilty of outright hypocricy in these attacks.  Robert Gibbs - who is Obama's Communication Director.  And Joe Trippi, who is a hired media gun for John Edwards.

Robert Gibbs, everyone knows, is the goon who put together the ad in 2004 for that had Howard dean's face morph into an image of Osama ben Laden.  In this campaign he has said that the Clinton campaign has "sold out" the Lincoln bedroom and he is responsible for the two vile memos that attacked Hillary for being the Senator from "Punjab" and the other memo attacking President Clinton for various nefarious acts, including making a speech in asia on the fifth anniversary of 9/11.  He also leaked this false charge that the President had made "blood money" on that day to Matt Drudge.  Yes, that Matt Drudge.
