John Edward's Legal Record..You Decide!!!!

So much has been made of trial Lawyers saying they are bad for America.  I found this in my search for truth.  As a law student, it is my duty to find the truth, and John is a lawyers' lawyer.  Nothing shyster like here, he is good, no, great for America.  If I was sick or injured and needed a lawyer, which happens, he is my man, my pick of all the lawyers running.
He will make a fine president.

Edwards Evening News Roundup: Teach Your Children Well Edition

Welcome to the Saturday night Edwards Evening News Roundup.  Tonight, our major focus is on the education plan that John Edwards released yesterday.  I think it's a great plan that will put our public education system back on track after years of neglect.  I'll highlight some of that plan tonight.

Beneath the fold, we'll delve into the following stories:

  • Teach Your Children Well: The Edwards Education Plan

  • Campaign Manager David Bonior on Hardball

  • Breaking News: Bush May Have Misused the DOJ AGAIN

  • Celebrating OneWebDay with the Edwards Campaign

The Edwards-Obama Comedy Routine

There's an old addage that goes something like, "The world is a comedy to those who think and a tragedy to those who feel".

There's something about the complete abandon of logic and consistency, the utter absurdity in claims and actions, that foils a rational mind and leads it into laughter. This is a lesson of so many great satirists: from Voltaire's Dr. Pangloss to Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove. It includes Bush's "best of all possible wars" and how Hillary "learned to stop worrying and love the bomb". And it is a lesson not unlearned by the Edwards and Obama campaigns.

The Fallacy of Tort Reform

Not a whole lot new has happened, which gives me the opportunity to do what I like best.  Having been accurately depicted by George Will as a narcissist who believes that people actually care about my ramblings, I will ramble on, today about tort reform.  Being an anesthesiologist for almost 20 years, I have been involved in medical malpractice and personal injury cases, both from the defense and plaintiff's sides.

Regarding medical malpractice, as a physician, the overwhelming majority of my colleagues have bought the line of the AMA that tort reform equals caps on non-economic damages.  I am not one of those.  History has shown, in California and more recently in Florida that this is not the answer.  In California, caps instituted in the late 1970's had little effect.  The malpractice crisis continued until the late 1980's, when insurance reform was instituted, and insurers refunded $70 million in overcharges.  To this day California malpractice premiums are below average, but not because of caps.

Trial lawyer is Grover Norquist's sugar-daddy!

It seems that the farmer and the cowman can be friends after all!

Just spotted a piece in the Globe from ten days ago (can't remember it covered anywhere else) about the leak of the donor list for Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform.

On it, one finds the usual suspects: Scaife, various tribes of Indians and so forth.
