McCain: "I'm Not A Rich Man"

It comes at around 55 seconds in. I know, it's a joke, but Jesus Christ, could he have more blatantly said how out of touch with people he is? How little seriousness that he has for Americans that are struggling and really aren't rich men? Furthermore, for someone who describes themselves as a gambler, is it a great idea to admit that you're a lousy gambler?

Hotline/Diageo Poll: "Out of Touch" Hits on McCain Landing

Some have noted the latest Hotline/Diageo poll showing Barack Obama leading John McCain by a 48 percent to 39 percent margin among registered voters, up from a 44 percent to 40 percent lead prior to the convention. While the topline numbers are great, a set of numbers further down in the survey stood out to me: Whether voters view the candidates as "in touch."

26a. How much, if at all, do you think Barack Obama is in touch with the interests of the average American?

Look at that spread. While 44 percent of Americans believe that Obama is greatly in touch with the interests of average Americans, just 17 percent say the same about McCain. Not even a majority, or even plurality, of Republican voters say that McCain is greatly in touch. With numbers like these, it sure seems that the advertisements hitting McCain for being out of touch are connecting with voters in a meaningful way, one that could bode really poorly for McCain's hopes in the fall.

Second Obama Ads Hits McCain Hard for House Comments

Maybe the ad folks over at the Obama campaign are reading MyDD, or maybe Josh is just very prescient, but Barack Obama is up with a new ad hitting John McCain for his inability to recall how many houses he owns using the very same image Josh posted along with the audio of McCain's comments. Take a look at the ad, which is literally entitled "Out of Touch":

I like it. Not only does McCain represent a third term of the foreign policy blunders embodied by George W. Bush, he also represents a second term for the economic woes and lack of compassion of the George H.W. Bush administration -- a fourth term for the Bushes, in a sense. Yes, John McCain really stepped in it... and it's great to see that the Obama campaign isn't letting him off the hook one bit.

Obama campaign mocks JMac

Ok, so we jump to it, the obama campaign comes out hard with an add mocking jmacs out of touch, rich point of view and as alien to regular u.s. americans.

may i dare offer this opinion: it wont work!

obama was sold and was received as different, as embodying something different, some real change from the way politics operates in these 50 states and possessions and whatever.

Obama's Wrong; McCain Has 8 Houses, Not 7

You've got to hand it to Duncan, who called it some time ago. It turns out Barack Obama was incorrect -- John McCain and his family have eight homes, not seven. The Politico has the story:

John McCain's family owns at least eight properties -- not the seven Democrats are alleging or the four McCain's staff identified -- according to a Politico analysis of property and tax records, as well as interviews.

This ought to keep the story brewing for another few hours...
