Power By Any Means

http://politicalpyro.blogsome.com/2008/0 5/11/by-any-means/

Barack Obama's staunch support for his cousin Raila Odinga's bid for the Kenyan Presidency has long been forgotten by the American mainstream media. The ethnic cleansing that followed, however, is well-documented and quite disturbing...

The UK's Telegraph reported: "Hundreds of women and children, including boys as young as five, have been gang-raped in a wave of sexual violence that has swept Kenya in the aftermath of last week's disputed presidential election."

... Even more disturbing when you discover that it was planned all along.

Peter Kimani, Managing Editor of the Saturday Times in Kenya, wrote in a very revealing article: "What is unfolding in Kenya may be anarchy but it has also been choreographed long before the first ballot was cast". He describes Raila Odinga this way: "As the militant African-American activist Malcolm X would have put it, power by any means necessary is a mantra that perfectly fits Odinga, who was detained for six years for his role in the abortive 1982 coup in Kenya".

Now which American political strategist do you think is slimy enough to be a major player in this type of incendiary campaign? None other than Dick Morris. It seems members of Barack Obama's own foreign policy team helped forge this little soiree.

Michael Gaynor of The Conservative Voice wrote: "Raila Odinga's official presidential website is similar to Barack Obama's, and Odinga's main campaign message and slogan is: CHANGE. Vote for Change. Agent of Change". You can find Odinga's web page by going to this Web History Locater: http://www.archive.org/web/web.php. Type in the Odinga web page (www.raila07.com) which they have taken down - you can't escape the web. [thank-you ztormtra]

On a final note, look at Odinga's psychological victory tactic: "ODM leader Raila Odinga Sunday declared that Kenyans had elected him the President of Kenya just moments before the Electoral Commission released the final results. However, the results announced by the commission's chairman showed that President Kibaki had emerged the winner"...

Now compare it with Obama's upcoming approach reported in Politico: "Not long after the polls close in the May 20 Kentucky and Oregon primaries, Barack Obama plans to declare victory in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination".

Just a Coincidence? Just words? Or is it fair to assume that by analyzing the company Barack Obama keeps, we are in fact seeing a reflection of Obama's own political soul?

Looking Back In Anger

http://politicalpyro.blogsome.com/2008/0 5/20/looking-back-with-anger/

The Democrat Party -- crippled for decades by stale ideas that never quite resonated after the turbulent 60's, humiliated by the perception of weakness against the backdrop of the Cold War and the Reagan Revolution -- the party of George McGovern, Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, and Michael Dukakis FINALLY broke through the bland barrier when Bill Clinton was discovered in 1992.

The Republicans were so insensed with the DNC's one shining star that they embarked on an eight year character assassination attempt, culminating with an impeachment trial that produced..... NOTHING.

The Clintons survived every political stick, stone, and scud launched at them. Yet amidst the constant haze of the incessant political battlefield they still managed to make the 90's one of the most peaceful and prosperous times in American history.
The post-Bill Clinton years were like a time warp. We returned to candidates who were uncomfortable and stiff in debate. Al Gore, much like Jimmy Carter, has proven to be much more interesting far away from the political arena. John Kerry was a dud from the beginning, much like Dukakis. The Massachusetts liberals never had a ghost of a chance in connecting with the vastly diverse American culture.

After eight years of yet another DNC draught, not one but TWO shining stars have emerged. This time, however, each candidate inspires completely different segments of the DNC canvas. Each candidate is flawed in his and her own way. There are doubts that either candidate alone will be able to defeat John McCain in the general election.

But with the Democrat party split almost exactly down the middle, and both candidates drawing a record number of voters to the polls, any sane person in the DNC should have recognized months ago that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama together would be the "unstoppable force" that Bill Clinton spoke of months ago. Call them Yen and Yang.

Hillary Clinton "unleashed" with the backing power of the formidable Clinton machine, along with arguably the most inspirational political figure in 50 years, would have won in November in a landslide. With Hillary at the top of the ticket and the unvetted freshman senator in the V.P. slot, the perfect resolution to the perfect storm would have been complete.

Why Hillary on top? Because not only has all her political dirty laundry been hanging in the wind for 15 years, it has rotted on the clothes line from endless Republican prodding. Barack Obama desperately needs a good, long meet-and-greet with the American public who deserves to know who he really is. Who is Wright, Rezko, Auschi, Odinga, and Ayers? What do they have to do with you? Why does your foreign policy team resemble a bunch of anti-Semetic skinheads that would make the Third Reich proud? America will NEVER elect Barack Obama without having satisfactory answers to those questions. Regardless of what Uncle Teddy thinks (Godspeed, Teddy). And six months isn't enough time to do it.

The DNC has the opportunity to squeeze 16 years out of their two shining stars. Unfortunately, they don't possess the vision to make that happen. After eight years as Vice President, under the protective wings and guidance of the Clintons, Barack Obama would emerge fully-vetted. At age 54, he could boast that his career never backtracked once in his stellar rise to the White House. He would still be fresh and inspiring.

As things stand now, Barack Obama is lining himself up to be yet another failed DNC attempt at reclaiming the White House. There is simply too much anger within the party for him to even secure a solid blue state victory. After November, he will tip-toe back into the Senate, his collegues glaring at him in dismay. The stellar rise of Barack Obama will suffer a setback that won't allow him to run again for possibly 8 years. By then, the magic will be gone.

By attempting to play kingmaker for their man Barack Obama, the mainstream media and half of Washington have attempted to destroy the Clintons. In final analysis, they will succeed only in destroying both candidates. Sadly, many in Washington and the mainstream media, whether through greed or vanity, don't have the intellectual fortitude to see the destruction of their party in the making. I pray my party changes course immediately and stops the bleeding of these self-inflicted wounds. Stop the political assassination of the Clintons now! Make the Clinton/Obama ticket a reality so we can all stand unified in November!

Stand down Michelle Obama! Stand down Keith Olbermann! Stand down Nancy Pelosi!

If only someone would listen...

Obama and Kenya

There is a worrisome thread that ties our election primaries with the election debacle in Kenya. The mainstream media seems content to avoid the connection. It is willing to allow the right-wing to sink its teeth into the story after Ted Kennedy crowns the winning Democrat with his laurel wreath. Why is that? Have we Americans become so provincial that we cannot make the effort that is necessary to fully investigate our candidates? Are we content to rely on revisionist autobiographies to make our decisions on their character and judgment?

We have heard part of the story of the Kenya election. The West has been shocked by the syndicated photos of the burnt church where 40-50 people, mostly women and children, fled to escape machete-armed mobs. The victims had gone to the church thinking it would be a safe haven only to have their former neighbors lock them inside and set the building ablaze. Unfortunately, the atrocities haven't stopped with that fire.

To its credit, the media has highlighted the marauders that have killed hundreds and the many displaced Kenyans who have left their homes to escape the violence. Recent accounts have also told the tragic stories of Kenyan women and Kenyan children as young as two, raped by gangs of thugs that hope their savage acts against defenseless human beings will disgrace their victims' families.

There is much more to the story of Kenya's election, however, a part of the story that has an American connection.  That part remains untold since the media seems content to allow the Republicans to connect the dots. This is the largely untold story, and I relate it here.

Raila Odinga, the opposition leader, who claims that President Mwai Kibaki rigged his election victory, is Barack Obama's cousin. In a story reported by the BBC, Obinga celebrated his connection to the presidential hopeful by sharing his familial tie. According to Odinga, Obama's father was indeed his uncle.

If the family connection was all, it is easily dismissed because many of us have relatives we would rather forget. Sadly, there is more to the story. Mr Odinga's Orange Movement and its dominant Luo tribe have caused much of the violence in Kenya. The victims of the violence have been for the most part the Kikuyu, the Kenyan President's tribe.

That is not all.  Odinga has a pact with the National Muslim Leaders' Forum, a hardcore Islamic organization that represents Kenya's Muslim minority. Odinga has promised Muslim leaders that he will establish Sharia courts throughout the country once elected. He has also promised to impose Muslim dress codes for women, prohibit the sale of pork and alcohol, and ban Christian preaching.

There is still more, and it takes us to the very crux of the matter.  In the late summer of 2006, Barack Obama visited Kenya and vocally supported Odinga and his presidential ambitions. There are pictures on the web showing the two together.  During that visit, the Kibaki government likened Obama to an Obinga "stooge," an unfortunate moniker for a presidential hopeful.

Why would Obama become involved in the internal politics of another country? What should Americans make of Obama's political endorsements and stumping for Odinga in Kenya? Surely, these incidents raise serious questions about Barack Obama's judgment and his understanding of international decision-making. Surely, Americans of whatever political persuasion should be concerned that Kenya, one of Africa's most prosperous, pro-Western states, is being threatened with the same fate as Somalia. Is this how Obama plans to work with other countries if he should win the presidency? This is a question that demands Barack Obama's answer.

In January of this year, our government asked Obama to urge Obinga to engage in bi-lateral talks to resolve Kenya's political crisis. At first, Obinga agreed to the talks. He has since dissed cousin Obama and rescinded his offer. So, why did Barack Obama risk his political capital on Odinga in August, 2006?

Obama and Africa - Diplomacy or Dissension

http://allafrica.com/stories/20080118091 6.html

Barack Obama has had a major impact on the recent disputed Kenyan election. He spoke in support of Orange Democratic Movement opposition leader Raila Odinga when in Kenya in 2006. The two men met last fall when Odinga visited America as each was preparing an "insurgency" campaign in their respective countries. In a recent BBC interview, Raila Odinga, averred that he and Obama were "old friends who spoke often on the telephone". Odinga also said that he and Obama were cousins, a claim that the Obama campaign was unwilling to acknowledge,(given Odinga's current difficulties) but did not deny.

Former Clinton aides currently working for Obama were the "mutual acquaintances" who directed Dick Morris to Kenya to advise the Odinga campaign in November of 2007, shortly after Odinga visited with Obama in America. Morris was an extremely divisive factor in the Kenyan elections, as a foreigner, a white man, and the creator of an antagonistic "have vs. have nots" campaign platform for Odinga's ODM. He also suggested the current campaign of civil disobedience to protest the election result, including a "Million Person March", a la Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.

When things got out of hand following the election, Obama called Odinga repeatedly, but Mwai Kibaki, the leader of the Government would not return his calls as he perceives Obama to be biased toward his Luo relative Odinga in the conflict. Obama is featured prominently in ODM campaign posters, slogans, and songs in Kenya, and the plaintive phrase "A Luo will become President in America before a Luo will become President in Kenya" is often heard.

Now, according to the above dispatch from Africa, it appears that the tribal rupture in Kenya, percipitated by the election, could spread to other countries. Some 700 people have died in Kenya as a result of the agitation since the beginning of 2008, and around 300,000 have been displaced from their homes. Human Rights monitors and Church leaders in Western Kenya have both suggested that the slaughter was organized by members of the ODM, and the Kenyan government has vowed to prosecute those guilty of the crimes.
