Brewer joins list of politicians embellishing war records

This week, Gov. Jan Brewer was at the center of yet another firestorm, this one ignited by a story in the Arizona Guardian, which pointed out Brewer had inaccurately claimed her father “died fighting the Nazi regime in Germany.” National media and blogs had plenty to say about Brewer’s comments. In their words:

The Huffington Post reported:

Gov. Jan Brewer is the latest political figure to come under fire for making conflicting statements about military service. In this case Brewer appears to have misstated her father's military record.

Gannett: Neo-NAZI Cards Not "Offensive," Say Police

Update III: Fond du Lac Police Captain Steve Thiry: "Obviously, people were offended," or we would not have investigated the incident. The Fond du Lac Reporter's lede gets knocked down, as do efforts to pooh-pooh the incident.

Update: SPLC Maps 12 Racist Groups in Wisconsin

I read with disappointment this morning's report in the Fond du Lac Reporter (Gannett Company) on the neo-NAZIs leaving their business cards on the car windows of several participants of a Hispanic-Latino event last week.

The "Aryan Wear" group's cards asks if the car-owners had "had enough diversity?"

The card is pictured at: http://malcontends.blogspot.com/2009/01/ fond-du-lac-police-neo-nazi-cards-not.ht ml.

The lede in the Reporter piece by Sharon Roznik reads: "Fond du Lac police said the content of anti-diversity cards left on the car windows of several participants of last Thursday's 'HOLA!' event is neither threatening, nor blatantly offensive racially."

Neo-NAZI Acts in Wisconsin

A social diversity event held last night at the Fond du Lac, Wisconsin Public Library entitled "¡Hola! Hispanic and Latino Experiences in Fond du Lac (Wisconsin)" was marred by cards left on the car windows of several participants by a neo-NAZI "Aryan Wear" group asking if the car-owners had "had enough diversity?".

The card is pictured at: http://malcontends.blogspot.com/2009/01/ aryan-group-acts-at-fond-du-lac.html , and was obtained by e-mail from Ken Hall, director of the Fond du Lac, WI Public Library.

Fond du Lac Police are interested in and actively investigating the incident, according to a police official contacted by phone this morning.

George Bush was Correct!

I think it's time for a little FACTUAL history lesson. Let me say UP FRONT that I am NOT and have NEVER been a Dubya supporter. I believe he will go down in United States history as the WORST POTUS this country has ever or will ever see.

That said, his remarks to the Israeli Knesset yesterday were not only FACTUALLY correct, his reference was not a slam at a Democrat or even BO, but rather a REPUBLICAN.

"Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along," Bush said. "We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: "Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.
.

In this supposed attack on a Dem and specifically BO: The sentence is in the PAST TENSE, as in when the Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939 an American Senator SAID. If anyone had bothered to google the "Lord, if I could..." quote, they would have seen that the American Senator Bush was referring to was in office in 1939 (not a Presidential primary candidate in 2008) and he was Sen. William Borah, an Idaho Republican at the time.
