It’s impossible for Congress to ignore the drumbeats of  a 100,000 people, descending on D.C. this weekend, to march for just and humane immigration reform. With the pressure for concrete action mounting, President Obama met Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY, head of the Senate’s Immigration Subcommittee) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) last week. And today, for the first time, we are seeing the framework for immigration reform in an Op-Ed in the Washington Post.

The nation's eyes are fixed upon a trembling economy. It affects our ability to survive, to thrive, and even think rationally. Today's economic crisis is also impacting the lives of immigrants and immigration reform on multiple levels, be it through provisions to the economic stimulus bill, individual lawmen exceeding the bounds of their office, or a scrambling Pentagon viewing immigrants as easy recruits.

As our economy continues to stagger and gasp along with record market failures-- and the failure of our paralytic government to do a single thing about it-- a lot of people are searching for explanations.

Take, for example, Michelle Malkin and Mark Krikorian. Yes, they're searching-- one might even say they are grasping at straws.

Malkin's subtle theory is that the whole thing is a natural consequence of letting too many Mexicans across the border:

The Mother of All Bailouts has many fathers...But there's one giant paternal elephant in the room that has slipped notice: how illegal immigration, crime-enabling banks, and open-borders Bush policies fueled the mortgage crisis.

Yes, I wish I was satirizing poor Michelle-- but her feeble little brain actually did come up with that statement in all apparent seriousness.
