Introduction

I've been reading MyDD for a while now but I've never posted anything.  I think I'm going to start so I'll give a bit of an introduction.

A brief Inception

I begin this "Direct Democracy" blog with a concise declaration of this blogs purpose.

I choose to write on here simply to outline my views towards all things political, current, and of interest to more than just myself.  At times my views may be conflicting or different from the reader.  I am extending a hand to all those who wish to offer advice or contrasting views.  I would also like to express my desire for feedback in any way especially with corrections or suggestions.

Let's Compare a WAPO Press Release to a DailyKos Diary

Cross posted with sensibledemocrats.blogspot.com

An Introduction of What you won't see here
Compare a DailyKos Diary about the Status of Forces Agreeement compared to a Washinton Post Press Release/AP Press Release

DK:" Iraqi Cabinet Votes to Oust U.S.! "
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/1 1/16/121349/21/198/661871

WP: :" Approval of the so-called status of forces agreement would be a cause for relief among Bush administration officials, who have grown increasingly concerned that U.S. forces would begin the new year with no legal basis to remain in Iraq. A U.N. mandate authorizing their presence is set to expire Dec. 31."

ME: So if they really wanted to kick us out , they wouldn't have signed SOFA.

DK: "This is huge not only because of the "dates-certain" involved, but also because those dates are not subject to future negotiation or "facts on the ground."

"This is militarily untenable and will accelerate Obama's withdrawal schedule"

AP: "Dabbagh said Iraq's government has received U.S. assurances that the President-elect Barack Obama would honor the agreement, and pointed out that each side has the right to repeal it after giving one year's notice"

My own insertion: Since I have a brain and the people on DailyKos don't, they forget the obvious. If things remain calm there, we'll be the ones begging to negotiate to keep permanent bases there.

Who are you? Who I am...

Pardon me if this diary seems a bit intrusive, or naïve, but I'm pretty new, and still don't really feel like I have a sense of the folks who post here.  I feel a bit uncomfortable still when I do post a diary, or make a comment, not because of anything anyone has said to me specifically, (except for 2 or 3 rather harsh diary hijackers I've encountered). Uncomfortable because of being a newbie.  I guess this is sort of a "break the ice" diary, 4 months late.   Not about politics - no breaking news.  No polls.  Just conversation.

Enjoy Your Democratic Majorities? So Do We!

From Next Generation Democrats Blog

Hey Readers,

Next Generation Democrats is a newly created organization and PAC to help cement our Democratic majorities gained in the 2006 elections by helping the next generation of Democratic leaders NOW, so that they are ready to step up as the current generation of leaders steps down.

We just wanted to introduce ourselves and let you know a little bit about us.  Our four founders are all young Democrats under the age of 25 with a combined total of 16 campaigns of experience.

Basically, we intend on helping the next generation of Democratic leadership now in two ways.  First, we will give direct campaign donations to candidates under the age of 40 (at all levels, with a focus more on local level elections) that meet our values.  Secondly, we intend to give earmarked donations to NGD endorsed candidates of any age for matching funds to help pay for young campaign staffers just starting out under the age of 28.  We will also be assisting campaign staffers we support with trainings and guidance.
