If history and money determined the fate of a campaign, Nassau County Legislator Dave Mejias (D-Farmingdale) would not have considered a 2008 run for the 6th NYS Senate Seat held by Kemp Hannon (R-Garden City

The most recent NYS BOE Financial Report has Citizens for Hannon with a healthy 295K COH. Citizens for Dave Mejias (County Legislative Account) shows him with 22K COH. Hannon has easily been elected to this seat since 1988 winning his 2006 re-election 40K to 29K against a poorly known and low funded challenger who had only the Democratic line.

Dear friends:
With your help, we waged a tremendous campaign for change. We held the Republicans accountable and showed Peter King that he cannot take re-election for granted.
While we came up short in the 3rd Congressional District, the Democrats have taken back both the House and Senate! This means the issues that we were fighting for - a new direction in Iraq, raising the minimum wage, ending the culture of corruption in Washington, protecting the environment - will finally take top priority in Congress.

Today my newest television advertisement hit the air, and I'd appreciate your comments.
The ad hits Peter King on the Iraq war and his support for George "Stay the Course" Bush and Donald "Back Off" Rumsfeld. Peter King is one of the few Republicans who still stand by the failed Republican policies in Iraq. He has refused to ask tough questions and hold the Bush administration accountable.

We have all been asking the DCCC to expand the playing field -- and finally it seems that they they finally did just that!
The DCCC's blog, The Stakeholder, reports that FOUR races in NY have become competitive enough for the DCCC to list them as the newest additions to the 'Red2Blue' list.
The
NY-03, NY-19,NY-26, and NY-29 have been made into the new 'Red2Blue' races.

It seems that every time Peter King opens his mouth he says something unbelievable, something that clearly puts him at odds with the constituents he's supposed to serve. Among his more memorable quotes:
"My campaign is that I'm George Bush's guy in Congress." (New York Times)
"I thank God every night that he is our president."
