Sorry for the length but this sounds like a pretty strong admission of Hillary's desire for the VP position.

Johnson said he began discussing the vice presidency with Clinton last month and that they talked about it at a dinner in Puerto Rico last Saturday and again by phone and e-mail on Tuesday. "Let me be clear," Johnson said in a telephone interview Wednesday morning. "She said if asked to do this, she must accept because she believes that it is in the best interest of the party that the party come together and win in November."
This will be the first big test of Obama as the nominee. If the reports are true that his campaign is dead set against having Clinton as VP, how does he manage this considering the numerous hints that are being dropped (covertly and now explicitly) that Hillary wants the offer??

NOTE: I'm crossposting Bob's diary because, as a Clinton supporter, I believe the hateful environment fostered at sites like NoQuarter has harmed Hillary's campaign. It certainly hasn't helped. This sort of racist, divisive, and sometimes violent rhetoric is appalling, not only because it's shocking and disturbing in and of itself, but because it also reflects poorly on a woman I respect and admire. I firmly believe that Hillary would frown upon this kind of behavior - this is not the way she wants to be represented. Bob's diary is below the fold.

My privileges have been restored recently, but I still miss Bob Johnson on this site. Always cogent, often contentious, whatever your opinion of his opinions, he was a credit to this site. I hope one day soon his posting privileges will also be restored. But in the meantime, with his permission, I'm reproducing his latest diary. I'm sure it will cause some discussion!! BOB JOHNSON'S DIARY
Frankly, I see far more reasons why Hillary Clinton would make a poor choice as Vice President than I see in her favor:
* She energizes the Republican fundraising machine in a year when Republicans are down and out, and not particularly overjoyed with their standard bearer, McCain.
* The revving up of the fundraising and attack machines would help downticket Republicans at the very moment they face crushing losses.
* She and tag-along Bill undercut Obama's core message of "change" in numerous ways.
* The brutal campaign has produced hundreds of clips of her undercutting Obama's credentials as presidential material making her a liability on the ticket.
* But here's the biggie: She and Bill (particularly, his post-presidential years and her campaign fundraising questions) have not been vetted and their baggage is likely to be a target-rich environment for the enemy.

interesting that what very well might be an astoundingly ineffectual, inept, sloppy & stupid group may have unwittingly..and i do mean unwittingly, screwed around with the election processes and rules
so, what do we get and why? obama is falling like a rock, falling like a rock...so leaping to the fray is bob johnson quoting talkingpointsmemo uh, an obama splattered site fairly oozing of obamism, okay, dude, but you conspiracy grassy knoll people dont understand the role of coincidence and hazy events in history
but, who benefits from a lame, clearly stupid effort? not clinton, and why hillary would want anyone to jump buck naked in a pool of errors in broad daylight is beyond me.

Back in March, Geraldine Ferraro said the following:
If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept," she said.
Since everyone else around here has fun using the bold command to make a point, I figured I'd do the same. You see, she wasn't saying that being black in America is generally a good thing, or that Barack Obama could not possibly be smart enough to be President. What she said was that the reasons he is getting so many votes is that black people will vote for him in droves because he is black and they want one of their own to be POTUS for a change, while white people will vote for him in droves because they think that by doing so, they are erasing negative American history towards African Americans, showing that they are not racist, and showing the world what a wonderful country America is. I used to be one of those people, and was going to vote for Obama over Clinton, before I came to my senses and realized that you don't elect a particular individual to a specific office based on such generalities, and that it is best to elect the most qualified for the job. After watching the debates, it became clear to me that Hillary is more qualified at this particular point in time than Barack.
